This is a non-spoiler reaction to the Adult Romance Novel GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN by Talia Hibbert. The main character lives with the chronic illness Fibromyalgia, which I can strongly relate to due to my similar condition of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS). This video focuses on the accuracy and quality of the representation of the chronically ill character portrayed in the book, focusing specifically on whether the book gives a realistic look into fatigue and spoonie conditions.
Have you read this book, or other books with chronically ill protagonists??

Sick Kids in Love was really good. I don't have RA so I don't know how realistic it was, but it dove into the subject of feeling like your younger self willed you to get sick. It's so hard to explain but it was an emotional experience to read it.

Came here to also recommend Sick Kids in Love! Two chronically ill teens, written by a chronically ill author, and no one dies!

I loved this book! My disability is similar to Chloe's, and I honestly loved the representation of sex and sexuality as a disabled person. Some other books I've read with a disabled romance protagonist: "The Kiss Quotient" by Helen Hoang. The MC is autistic, as is the author. I ADORED this book. "Can't Escape Love" by Alyssa Cole is another good, geeky romance. The MC is a wheelchair user, and her love interest is neurodivergent. I love all these books and I so want more disability rep in books, especially romance, because disabled people are sexy!

I actually searched for this video because I was recommended this book by someone who didn't really know about my fibro, just loved the romance stories throughout the trilogy, so I thought I was just going to be reading a 'normal' romance novel. When I started reading and realized that this lead in a book had fibro it made me so emotional and in a way I just felt so validated. I just had to look for what other people were thinking about it, because I was sure more people were as impacted as I am😂

I’ve just finished this book and I have Fibromyalgia, it was SO good!! I loved this video too. The representation was amazing, and so positive but also realistic. I also feel like Talia is so talented with meshing out her characters, they felt like real people! Thankyou for sharing your thoughts 🫶🏻🫶🏻

As someone with CFS and Fibro, I loved Get a Life, Chloe Brown! (And pretty much everything Talia Hibbett has written!) There's this great article/interview in which Talia Hibbett talks about her perspective on her own chronic illness and tattoos, which is really cool! (I'll try to find the title and comment it below.) Edit to say: I really resonate with your feelings about dating. I've often felt like if I were to really try to date with my chronic illness it would be like a full-time job!
