I have the Himmy 450 and absolutely love it. The gear box is phenomenal. So smooth. Suspension is plush and the bike is so easy to ride. A bigger version does not interest me. Doesn't make sense to make a bigger version in my opinion. The 450cc engine on the himmy is plenty and makes great fuel economy for all day rides. After 2500kms the 450cc engine starts to open up and comes to life.

Engine fins on this bike has higher count than regular 650s. If you see closely you can see the difference. If it is same power, I doubt why RE would invest in a second discs at the front. Discs on the newer Himalayan and other new REs are good. So this might be a higher capacity bike from RE.
@matusknives17 күн бұрын
Also - and I may be mistaken - the oil (?) radiator is larger than the one on current 650 RE models. So maybe it is a 750, or the engine was tuned for higher power.

Clearly a taller cylinder with 3 extra cooling fins over the 650 motor. My money is on a 750 or even an 800cc motor of around 70HP which is what a lot of other companies are doing. The only other air cooled adventure bike of this capacity is the Moto Guzzi V85TT but it will be much cheaper than the Guzzi which does have shaft drive as well. It will have bags of character for sure.

In Europe, you can reduce engine power in order to drive the motorcycle with A2 license. A2 license basically means that you cannot ride motorcycles that have more than 48 hp. And then later than you pass the exam for unlimited engine power, you can go to the workshop and open full power. This is quite common. So I don’t think that would be an issue with 750 cc.
@davidc1961utube19 күн бұрын
This bike looks more like an upgraded or upsized 411, whereas the 450 is an "offroaded" 411. The 450 is for a very different rider. I would definitely prefer 21/18 tubeless on an ADV tourer, if only to maximize tire options. The gearing will also be an important aspect that only test riding will evaluate. Looking forward to your opinion after riding one. Cheers from the US!

The 650 willbe quite a bit over 200kg ib the same region as the Norden, but with significantly less power. No thanks, I love the combination of 75hp and 165kg. With a close observation at the chassis at 11:01, the engine in the Himalayan 750/650 isn't going to be suspended inside a double cradle frame. There is a high chance that RE may go ahead with a trellis frame sort of a chassis design where the engine would be a part of the frame (similar to the Him-450). The advantage would be again less weight as compared to the existing 650s with a double cradle frame.

The frame on the 650/750 Himi is different than the Bear/GT/Interceptor to accommodate the single shock in the rear and the front appears to be a single down tube while the other 650's use twin down tubes. From the pictures it appears that the frame may not wrap under the engine and only the skid plate protects the motor. That is very common now and saves weight and money. I think the bike will be heavier than the other 650's but it has more "stuff" too and that adds weight even with a lighter frame. I would like to see RE jump the 750 competition and offer all the twins as either a 650 or an 865, at the same price! After al the bigger bore won't coast any more to make really. By offering both engine sizes the bikes will appeal to both newer riders and those with open licenses. Selling both engine sizes would be little different than selling the bikes in the different color schemes.
@johnscott698415 күн бұрын
An observation made on one of the forums is the engine has an additional row of cooling fins - so an increase in stroke? If so it's probably bigger than a 650. I think it's going to be a successful model but, in my opinion, RE needs to at least offer tubeless rims as an option.

Royal Enfield really needs to put on their big boy pants & release a 750cc or 800cc powered bike & a new Himalayan would be the perfect opportunity. I've been very tempted by the Himaalayan & Geurilla 450's & the Bear 650, but I only do light offroading & looking at my Svartpilen 401 I can't see any compelling reason to switch, other than aesthetics. A more powerful motorcycle would change that, and would give existing owners some sort of upgrade path & would likely help sales in the US.

From the perspective of a US rider, a place where big bikes sell, I think RE should consider 2 separate models, but I'm not sure a 750 is enough differentiation. At that point, it's gonna have to start competing with the Trans Alp, Vstrom 800, F900GS, Tiger 900, etc. If they want to make a big bike for western markets it's going to need a lot more punch OR it's going to need to be super light and VERY capable off-road. I don't agree with the mentality, but in this market, bigger is better. Himalayan 950 making about 90hp or bust.

Point being, the only way this new Himalayan 650 is going to be successful is by being a bike that sells on its low price and its "character." The problem for Royal Enfield right now is that apparently the CF Moto 450 has set a pretty high bar for the low price adventure bike class. @@MickH60the existing road oriented RE 650s put out about 40 hp on the dyno. Some a little more, some a little less. If they tune it for torque it might make even less than that. New 450 vs new 650, hmmmm. 450 liquid cooled ; 650 air cooled. So - rider preference is a great marketing choice. RE makes an engine platform and then uses it in many different bikes. So in my opinion I do not see it being a 750

Well, if you look closely at the pics here, and compare them to the 650 engine, you'll see the fin shape is different, and more rows of fins, leading me to believe that it's an updated/rated engine.... Whether that goes on to the production model is yet to be seen...

Talking about power and Royal Enfield doesn't make sense. If you want a power 750 engine, you're not a proper Enfield fan. Royal Enfield it's all about experience and air cooling engines. That's what we want. If you want something else, just look in the other 99% market offer. It's simple.

@ROYALENFIELD Redesign the fairing #HYMALAYAN650. The appearance is poorly resolved, it looks neither retro nor modern... #redesign
