Interesting fact 2.1 gigapixels/sec is also the same as 8k video at 29.7fps.

Good review. I've been wanting to see a side by side comparison.
@Beyondthepress4 жыл бұрын
I think monochrome 2.1 would be absolute killer for the shotgun stuff. I can do comparisation with all 4 cameras when I get the monochrome 2.1 camera here. But monochrome is twice as good as color in terms of low light and sharpness compared to color and then 2.1 needs probably 4 times less light to get similar picture than 1.4. So when you combine those two it should be pretty good.
@Saareem4 жыл бұрын
I remember that when Chronos first launched, you and Taofledermaus were probably the first KZbinrs to ever get your hands on one of them. It was awesome then but just like you, Chronos has gotten so much better during the years. Much more professional at the very least. 😄

The picture quality is much better with the new version but that lens means the depth of field is considerably reduced. It’s very apparent when comparing the blurriness of the rear edge of the lower press tool. This will make stuff flying at an angle towards/from the camera blurrier much quicker than with the old setup.
@markfergerson21454 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I noticed that too, it's especially visible in the billiard ball comparison video. The pieces moving to the right at the beginning and across the left front of the lower tool later are good examples of what you describe.

He probably just had the aperture wide open. Not a fault of the lens.

The snapdragon 865 is a beast, with 2 gigapixels per second it has the same pixel throughput than chronos 2.1 I hope that we can take the same shots with our phones next year.

Hi loving your vids, fun and informative, HELP, I was wondering if I could ask you a question, I am running a ballistic testing company in the uk and we have resently purchased the B/W chronos 2.1 to capture the effects of a rounds penetrating different materials, the camera is hooked up to a pc via ethernet cable to control the camera, which is 25meters away form the pc, all was well until quite recently I am now finding I have no control over the camera on the pc, I have a feed showing what the camera is seeing but cannot change any of the settings like exposure, digital gain, analog gain, resolution, link to the cameras saved video's or record, have you come across this problem before, and maybe have a solution, any help would very much appreciated, cheers Stu

Did you consider using fixed lenses like the 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 or the longer 85mm versions? The old manual ones are pretty affordable and they have excellent picture quality.
@Beyondthepress4 жыл бұрын
Yes I did but when filming with high speed cameras you end up switching the resolution quite often to get more/less fps. And that results change of crop factor so then you would have to always move camera also making everhthing quite slow. I am really pleased with these lenses only negative things are price and size
@drstefankrank4 жыл бұрын
@@Beyondthepress Indeed, a zoom is handy in that situation. These are some fine lenses.

KZbin video compression eliminates a lot of details. At 1080p I only see a very small difference. At 2160p Chronos 2.1 is clearly better. Even if your monitor can't show 4k, the higher video bitrate still improves the image significantly.
@Beyondthepress4 жыл бұрын

Greetings from a fellow Chronos user! Have you tried the higher framerates at lower resolution? If you end up renting one of the more expensive high speed cameras again, it would be cool if you could shoot some comparisons with the Chronos, both at Full HD and at faster framerates. For focusing I recommend printing out a Siemens star en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siemens_star and focusing on that, it makes it much more obvious when you are in focus.
@zvpunry19714 жыл бұрын
What has happened on the camera screen at 10:51? You have to pause the video and navigate with the , and . keys frame by frame. It is the first frame after the above mentioned timestamp.

To get less bluriness in the edges it would be better to increase ISO and shut down the lens-opening a bit. This will reduce quality for more visibility. This is a general thing about photography.
