Thanks for the video. Dealing with a possible starter issue with my wife’s 200. I knew there had to be a way to release it…..now we can tow it to the shop. Great to see Chrysler uses a similar method to release their transmissions as I do my garage door! 🤷🏻‍♂️👍😄

Thank you for the info, doing an alignment on a 16’ 200 and knew it had this mechanism somewhere just didn’t know for this particular model, now I do. It’s also interesting to know they printed the Detroit skyline on a rubber mat that you’ll never see lol.

Had my 2016 Chrysler 200 for over 5 years and had no idea that was there. Am having a problem w engine losing power at lower speeds. Got an oil changed and it helped a little. Thinking it might need a transmission fluid change but apparently that is not an easy task. Would this make any difference in engine power?

Very well thought out instructional review! I feel badly for those Fiat/Chrysler customers. So many issues coming from that partnership with less than mediocre products. I fear for the future of Jeep. Maybe Jeep with secede from the company and use better suppliers than what is currently used to give them a chance to retain an American legacy brand.

Thanks for the cool feedback. I dont know of anything personally when it comes to performance on these engines. I do know that there are super charger kits on the market for these engines. Otherwise thats the length of knowledge I have when it comes to that. Thanks for watching

Hi David. Have you ever come across any Jeeps that have a "service shifter " light come on in the dash and found out what the problem is. This is happening in my 2018 Compass with only 7400mi on it. Thanks.

Its something we see from time to time. It will depend on what the codes are. First step is to get those codes retrieved and then I can give you some advice on what to check next. Otherwise it would be just a guess this early stage in checking it. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.

If the battery fails, and the parking brake was on, do you have to release it manually also? Thanks David!

If the battery is disconnect with the electric parking brake engaged....you will have issues with getting the vehicle to move.....not just the park position but also the parking brake. I would recommend using a batery jump box or jumper cables to supply voltage so that you can release the parking brake....otherwise there is a lot that needs to be done to get them released. I can get my car into neutral by using the compartment in the middle, but it won't let me turn off my electronic parking break!!!! It just continually blinks and says park brake temporarily unavailable, and service transmission park brake system unavailable

Thats called the charging station. Mopar actually has a wireless charger that can be installed in there. And from the console all of your charging wires and aux cord will feed through a hole into that compartment. 😊

Chrysler 200 limited 2016 83,000 service transmission message came up should I be worried. I live in Hawaii seems no body but the dealer can service this transmission . Anybody have any suggestions

Morning. On that vehicle....when the service trans message comes up that means there is an issue or error with the trans. It has nothing to do with changing the fluid or "servicing" it. Its more of a check engine light for the trans. I highly recommend having the codes scanned to see what is going on. Thanks for asking and for watching. Being that its Hawaii......I might be welling to fly there and check it out for you if you supply the tickets. I wouldnt do that for just anyone lol.

I have a 2016 Chrysler 200 s. The battery went dead and after charging it up the car started but it had a bunch of idiot lights so I did a reset on the computer by disconnecting both battery cables and shorting them together for a couple of minutes. After reconnecting them back up to the battery, the car started fine and most of the idiot lights cleared. I am left with the car being stuck in neutral and performance shift unavailable alarm message. It won't shift to drive or go into park. I tried doing the reset again and also the park over ride in your video but no luck. Any suggestions on something else I can try or is it time to call a tow truck?

For now looks like you will need access to a scanner that can communicate with all the control modules to see what the codes might be and to see if there are any other issues. You pretty much have tried everything I would have recommended.

@@MotorCityMechanic Just wanted to follow up on what the fix was for my issue. The dealer retrained the transmission (reprogrammed) and found the battery was bad. They said if the battery goes completely dead like mine was that it some times corrupts the cars programming. Anyway, $306.00 later (not including towing charges) and my car works fine.

That most likely will be a different issue and will require checking it for codes to see what is going on meaning most likely a tow to the dealer.

My 2015 Chrysler won’t shut off because it won’t go into park. Shifter moves but the car won’t change into the gears. I just changed the battery thinking it has something to do with it

Something else has failed. At this point hooking up a high end scanner will be needed to see what codes are present in all the modules. I bet the shifter position light is blinking as well. It wont be a simple fix and the onky way to turn it off for now will be to disconnect the battery. Then it will most likely need to be towed to a repair shop.

Jenifer Price i had to find the ignition fuse and remove it to shut the car off so I could then disconnect the battery. The fuse box is by the battery but your gonna have to make sure you pull the right fuse. The lid cover of the fuse box has a picture to help you with finding the right fuse. When I got my car to the shop they found out the problem was my alternator was bad and it caused my cpu to need reprogramming.

For the most part yes. I still see some older versions with issues but over time the failures/replacements have dropped a lot. Most complain about the shifting characteristics which there is no fix for. Common trait. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe

Every Chrysler vehicle I have owned has had its share of transmission issues. My 2014 Promaster with 35,000 miles had leaky seals. My dealer repaired and covered by warranty.

I do see issues from time to time for sure. I am the trans tech where I work and to tell you the truth.....I would go broke if all I did was trans work. There isnt enough to keep me busy. This 2015 C200 is weird. Low battery - changed. Car stuck in neutral. Will not start. Unplugged battery and computer module connex for about 10mins. Car starts. Will not shut off. Shift knob now moves. Car does not. Wtf?

@@TheJohnnybee09 The problem was diagnosed by a Chrysler dealer. Found to be a "Relay Mic # 08052328". $17 part fm the dealer. Part#: 68244159-AA. Total bill: $166.74. You will not be able to fix it by yourself unless you have the same computer diagnostic equipment the dealer does. We had it at the dealer 3x before they finally found the problem. Good luck, dude!
