Thank you for this video. I used roller arms from eBay and engine started misfiring. Replaced the cam. Still misfiring. Found your video and did a compression test. Low compression. Ordered Mopar parts from Rock Auto. Fixed the problem. alleluia I would of never thought the first roller arms were faulty. Thanks again

Subscribed! Loved your explanation. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 and am hearing some lifter tick. This gives me some ideas. Vehicle has 158K miles.

Check your oil and see if it’s thick and dirty. A good motor flush and an Italian tune up. Then change your oil with so nice new oil. Should do the trick. Thanks for subscribing.

Probably boils down to manufacturers like Chrysler using factories which aren't up to snuff quality control wise. Having parts made by the lowest bidder out of country can lead to problems down the road.

Have a great weekend! I was expecting a “Stop it” after the “Johnson lifter”.🤣🤣🤣

So compression and leak down was good with the engine cold, but when running and exhaust valve stems expanded, the valve (s) were held a shade off the seat. What's the total range of the lifter? I'm a tech in the harley world, we use 0.200" range lifters, and shoot for 0.100" (50%) when adjusting the lifters. The top of the engine grows 0.030-0.040" from cold to hot, so we end up at around that 0.060" preload. A common problem on harley engines is that the cams roll on needle bearings, which sometimes blow their needles out and excessive preload on the lifter keeps the engine quiet until the end of the camshaft has worn through the shell of the needle bearing right into the block casting. Having ground up needles in the engine is bad enough, but having to send the case to be welded up and rebored for a new needle bearing makes for a hefty repair bill.

with the hydraulic valve lashers, how do you adjust the preload? seems the lasher gets pumped up with oil until the cam follower makes contact with the base circle of the cam lobe?
@MrDanielSoliz10 ай бұрын
The valve preload is set by the factory and or machine shop when they do a valve job. It’s set by the valve stem heights.

My new lifters don't have any movement on the plunger. Is there a reason why? Even my old ones don't...which is why I thought that was the problem.

I will be discussing lifters on our livestream this afternoon here on my KZbin channel. What engine do you have?

I recently had a bent intake valve on the #4 cylinder 3.7 liter. Found out that the lifter is stuck keeping the valve open. I was able to bleed it down by gently using a vice.
@MrDanielSoliz Жыл бұрын
Had the cylinder head just been off?
@numchuck187 Жыл бұрын
Yes, had to replace the head due to a blown head gasket. The new head that I got had a defective lifter? After I first installed the head it ran like crap and after a compression check I found the #4 cylinder dead. Pulled the head back off and that’s when I found the bent valve. Do you think that replacing the bad lifter would fix this? Thank you for the reply btw!🙏

perhaps Harland sharp or comp. cams could make a better rocker .

Price difference for 24 in Canada is ….Mopar $700.00 (your labour)vs Amazon $116.00 and up. Average timespan on Mopar lifter and arms? 150,000 miles? May as well do all of them while you’re in there. Don’t know how long after market parts will last.

I purchased new Mopar lash adjusters for the 3.6L Pentastar, and I cannot compress the plunger straight out of the package. Should these be installed straight out of the package, or do I need to release oil pressure and bleed them down? The service manual says they should be at least partially filled with oil, but in another section states that they should be filled with oil.
@MrDanielSoliz Жыл бұрын
Go ahead and install them as they are, once installed turn the engine over by hand until the valve opens all the way. Let it sit a while and let the spring push the oil out of the lifter. Then tune it over to another lifter. You can tag the ones that are open unlit you get them all done. If there’s some that that didn’t bleed down enough it will shake and maybe backfire a bit but should adjust them self out in about a minute. This engine does have stronger valve spring them most. Hope this helps and have a great Labor Day weekend.

How could it pass a leakdown test if the valve was never able to close all the way?
@MrDanielSoliz2 жыл бұрын
He pulled the rockers and liters and it pass, just wouldn’t pass with them installed.
@donwasse78922 жыл бұрын
@@MrDanielSoliz I would think a shop would have performed a leakdown test with everything installed and heard air leaking past the valves. Test failure, call the customer and tell them that they have to pull the head off and send it to the machine shop. But the technician went a step further and pulled the rockers, performed another leakdown test which passed, and still wanted to pull the head knowing that the customer completed the job himself with cheap parts? Could the valve stem height not have been checked with the cylinder head installed? Or is there another variable that I'm not thinking of which could cause the cause the issue? I'm certainly happy that you got the work and could put your amazing knowledge and skillset to work, just seems like that shop really dropped the ball that caused the customer a huge unnecessary expense by removing the head.

That is not a lifter A lifter moves up and down . That is a valve lash adjuster because it does not move up and down it only has an oil controlled center valve

Wow.. to think Someone who has the knowledge of how to properly change lifters somehow doesn't know when to go with an Amazon part or not...
@MrDanielSoliz8 ай бұрын
Wow,you think Amazon parts are better than a good used part. Not everybody is just a parts replacer some of us fix things and some just replace parts and hope for the best. You don’t even understand how dumb your comment is.
