Yet another great vid Mark , thank you for that.Re Bill Allens last vid, my heart goes out to him . I remember when my friend took his terminally ill brother fishing for the last time , he caught a nice barbel which he chose not to weigh. He said there is a begining and an end to everything , but its what happens in between that counts. That really struck me at the time . All the best David.

Thank you ever so much Jager. I do like trying to offer a variety in shapes and sizes of rivers and indeed species. As much as I enjoy my barbel fishing I really love hunting about on said waterways and that is very much why I like to make these videos because I feel most of you guys who watch them have a similar outlook.

@@francolinobasco Another great video, l find these little, out of the way rivers really enjoyable to fish, a little side story for you, whilst lure fishing for pike on the upper Ouse towards the end of this season l hooked what l thought was a reasonable pike and it wasn;t until the fish was under the rod tip that l saw it was a reasonable chub, then bang, the chub was grabbed by what l thought was a pike but it wasn't, it was an otter! the chub was released after 2 or 3 seconds, the otter disappeared back under the water, the chub landed, around 4lbs, and was released!!!!!!!!!

Great video Mark ...your fishing very much mirroring my own in regards to predation and I’m sure many others..very worrying the amount of Otters now widespread.. in areas I fish they are devastating fish stock’s..areas I would be always guaranteed bites now total Blanks including into dark. I always have otters crashing around on my evening sessions now can’t remember a time when I haven’t seen them and I’m talking several otters and now I am seeing them in daytime. Wonderful to see you catching some cracking chevin I hope I get one myself soon..cheers and tight lines mate.

Nice video Mark - great perseverance rewarded. I thought to myself at 12:00 - if you don't catch one in the _"aquarium swim"_ you won't catch one anywhere. Shame about the otters - I wonder if the EA are going to do an assessment of otter damage and permit some culling. If so, that would be a very good little river for them to electro-fish, to see all the damage !

sorry I have to ask, is chevin, a local term for chub, or just a personal thing? and the local river you fish, is it a club water or a free fishery?
@francolinobasco3 жыл бұрын
The term Chevin is a reasonably recognised general term for chub, some people prefer to use it to "chub" or like myself use both terms.

Yet another interesting VLog, as are they all. Can I ask you a ‘slightly’ personal question?……… I’ve always been curious - you have your reels set up as ‘right handed’, you strike & reel in ‘right handed’, yet you always cast out ‘left handed’?? Is there any particular reason for this? Sorry for the irrelevant question, but I’m just curious. 👍🏻
@francolinobasco3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ken and not a problem regarding the question. I have always been "goofy" with the casting and playing fish and it kind of stuck with me lol.

What reel do you match up with the darrent valley rod mate?
@francolinobasco3 жыл бұрын
Jack i tend to try to keep to small reels to balance it, so usually 500 to 800 sizes. I currently have a cheap Goture 500 size reel on

how long is it going to take before the ea admit otters are doing so much damage all over the county wont be buying a licence until they do
@jaquesdaniels29643 жыл бұрын
The fact is , the rivers and waterways are for all to enjoy -not just anglers . And non anglers like to see otters , voles , herons and wildfowl . Anglers of course have to pay for a rod licence , but then , angling needs "policing" due to bank damage , line litter etc . A rod licence simply allows you to use a rod and line and to fish - it doesn't guarantee you will catch fish , the EA had a reasonable record on pursuing pollution incidents when I was a bailiff , but abstraction was another issue , otters are one of the latest bankside moans , back in my day it was pike , then zander , now its otters and Eastern Europeans - never the weather/spawning or the fact that the river /lake is stuffed with bombed in pellets/boilies/particles !!!
@chipnroll3 жыл бұрын
@@jaquesdaniels2964 where im from we done use pellets boilies on rivers as theres next to no carp and tench im saying in 10 yrs 90% of river have been decimated i agree its not all otters fault its alot of different thing including Europeans but they need to accept all problems and stop denying
@peachycreations87873 жыл бұрын
@@jaquesdaniels2964 do you honestly think the river Mark was fishing in this video is stuffed full with pellets and boilies lol? He did also say it wasn't just otters as the problem but regular pollution by water companies and sewage discharges.
