At the beginning of their career The Beatles covered Chuck Berry's legendary 'Roll Over Beethoven'. The first single from the Rolling Stones was his resilient 'Come On'. And that Jimi Hendrix played 'Johnny B. Goode' is another proof for the respect Chuck Berry enjoys from the big ones of the music business.
As 'Mr. Rock 'n' Roll' Chuck experienced every high and low, and age 85 he is still as lively as at the time when everything began. He can't help it; Rock 'n' Roll is his handcraft, passion and the eternal flirt with life.
In Chuck Berry Plays Avo Sessions, the legendary rocker performs his greatest hits at the intimate sessions in Basel, Switzerland in 2007.
As John Lennon once said: "If you tried to give rock 'n' roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'". So welcome Mr. Berry on the Avo Session stage!

He's friend, Keith Richards plays on Fender-Tele with... Gibson humbaking pick-up!!! (hihi) // Wikipedia-Citation:1953 Fender Telecaster - Richards acquired this butterscotch Telecaster in 1971. Nicknamed "Micawber"..it is set up for five-string open-G tuning (-GDGBD), and has only five bridge saddles. The neck pick-up has been replaced by a Gibson PAF humbucking pick-up, and the bridge pick-up has been replaced by a Fender lap steel pick-up. "Micawber" is one of Richards's main stage guitars..

He was still in good voice back then, and his guitar playing was still pretty good, no more than the usual amount of Chuck clunkers. He should've retied a few years ago though, the vids from the last few years are mostly pretty sad stuff. I'll cherish seeing him in Portsmouth when he was 78 though, just bass, drums, piano and him, no other guitars and no Ingrid, so he had to work harder and was really on the ball!

His guitar playing was awful, but his singing literally never got bad. The only reason why he got bad was because he couldn't play while singing and that his guitar was out of tune

It's not just his age. People like Les Paul still played pretty well at an old age. Even BB King was still more or less enjoyable in his last years. Chuck is simply a stubborn guy that hasn't practiced on his instrument in many years. This concert is actually pretty okay. Just listen to his live performances in 2014.
