Man, the damage that Silva could absorb was inhuman. Such toughness and heart. Same thing goes for Chuck, until his chin completely gave out.

I think Chuck suffered some other type of head injury or some other type of thing probably came to the lifestyle impairments if you know what I mean because all of a sudden he went from being able to break your hand with his face to getting clipped all the time

@@casualwoodchuckchuck talks about it, he said it’s a neurological thing he said a neurologist told him he’s simply too tough. His brain has determined this guy is too tough and if we don’t clock out and go unconscious he’s going to get himself even more brain damaged so the brain cuts out on a weaker punch that he would’ve taken in the past

Liddell was no bar fighter. He has a black belt in Koei-Kan karate. I mean the tattoo on his scalp reads "Koei-Kan", in Japanese. And he went on to excel at Kenpo as well. Then he got into kick boxing. He wrestled at Cal Poly, where he also played football. He was far from a bar fighter my friend. Chuck was a well trained MMA fighter, who just liked to stand and bang.

It really says something that both these guys would actually stop the opponents they fought, Silva and Liddell annihilating some of the very best opponents of UFC & Pride FC...THEN seeing these two go at it, and neither fighter could finish the other, they just kept fighting! I remember the anticipation of this fight was from early on and their careers. When this finally came about it seemed like just a couple months and the fight took place. I feel like Chuck really wanted to show something else. His whole career when from knocking people out with one punch, to him getting knocked out with one punch several fights in a row. In this fight he definitely lived up to all the hype that's been around him for years prior to this. This may have been one of the last old-school MMA rivalries. Wanderlei has taken a lot of damage in his career at this point. I would think far more than Chuck. He did pretty good considering this may have been Liddell at the end of his prime.

I loved this fight. Loved Chuck too. This wasn’t really the real axe murderer tbh though. He was off his prime for my money when he got to the UFC. it’s amazing looking back though how primitive both these guys punches are. Big winging, looping, hooks. Not a jab in sight 🤣 swinging for the fences every one. MMA has moved forward so much since this in skill set. But still this raw type of conflict. All heart it’s just great to watch still. 🙏🏻

Wanderlei was 31 when he fought in that match and Chuck was about 37. Chuck was most certainly past his best when he fought in that fight and should have already retired.

Chuck was awesome in his day ,it’s hard to believe that he couldn’t take a punch in the later years ,
