I am very disappionted with how a lot of powerlifting is going as far as high squats and all the crazy questionable calls but that 1140 squat was definitely deep enough! WAY TO GO! That was incredible!

Great job big Chuck, you are a monster. just wished your bench would have been goot. Then we would have seen a 2600+ total out of you @ 242. Regardless, Chuck's best deadlift is 835 with a suit, sumo stance @ 275 under normal conditions. Chuck just did 820 with only briefs, a conventional stance, one weight class lower, with a broken rib. How insane does this guy get?

I thought squat suits were supposed to be really tight while his doesn't seem to be. If anything, that just makes this all the more impressive.

Not taking *anything* away from Chuck, and am say this in the utmost respect: Depends on the suit. Polyester suits need to be tight as fuck, canvas suits work quite well without being as tight. I have a super boss suit, if I'm 10lbs out it's basically a singlet. Meanwhile my canvas suit had worked for me across two weight classes.

I love the guy recording.....hilarious. To all the naysayers, put 1000+ on a bar, get whatever suit you want and see what happens. If you even budge it, I'll be impressed. Multiply suits are not easy my friends. I have lifted raw and singleply, completely different animals. Powerlifting squats will never be ATG. That's Olympic lifting. Train hard, train smart.

But if he had a better bench, we may even see him do a 2750-2825 Total @ 242 or 275. That would be HUGE. Mow granted, at least it's not all his squat like a lot of lifters where they can squat 8 inches high, call it parallel and then suck on the bench and dead where all the brute strength is needed. Chcuk is an animal and with a bigger bench, who knows what powerlifting may see.

Although I'd love a lower depth, and hate this quarter squat multiply shit, I'd have to say the squat attempts two and three are pretty acceptable. I would prefer the rule books to say you have to break parallel In a noticeable manner, not match parallel. I would say they are parallel, but the the first attempt was so high and it passed. Attempt one is three red lights all day. Two and three are two of the lowest multiply squats I've seen although they'd get red lighted in reputable raw Feds. As far as that goes, it's hard to deny they aren't acceptably parallel. I mean look at those two and look at a Dave Hoff squat, Chuck gets parallel or at least very close.

ive never understood why powerlifters deadlift is so much worse than their squat
@ChernobylAudio666
@ChernobylAudio666 4 жыл бұрын
Well... the deadlift starts at a dead position on the floor, there is no stretch reflex, no "bounce" or "rebound" to help them lift the weight. There is also no real suit that can help generate this bounce like a squat suit does. For example, without 1000+ pounds on this back, Chuck can't even sit down in this suit. He walks like a stickman here because... well.. the suit severely restricts the movement. It's multi-ply, meaning it's squeezing the shit out of him and it's built to give him a bounce off the bottom of the squat, which is debatable if he hit or not. This is the nature of equipped lifting and why squats of this nature look the way they do. The point is you really can't get any assisted lift with a deadlift like you can with squats/bench because it's a pull, not a push, and there is no way to help generate a pull other than having a strong back and a good grip.

@@ChernobylAudio666 thanks for explaining. I'm new to the powerlifting world and have only really been watching strongman where deadlift is the strongest lift by far so I was just confused by that.
@ChernobylAudio666
@ChernobylAudio666 4 жыл бұрын
@@jeppekjr349 No harm in asking. With strongman, the training is quite different and there are a lot of massive bastards in strongman, haha. Also in strongman, you can use straps so the grip strength is not a concern. If you're pretty curious about the techniques and how to get started, I'd check out programs/training systems geared towards novices. Starting Strength is a good one.
