I think I've only ever seen Hazard Max once and when I did we lost on the 1st phase. Man, that second Salmon Run shift was close both egg-wise and life-wise.

I'm usually a bit late to episodes so I'm likely out of comment being seen by anyone range but I'm here for more fun salmon run tips anyway because I play a totally normal amount of salmon run - your number of revives at the end of the match are the number of times other players have revived you. if you die at the end of the match and revive by jumping back at the end of the next wave it doesn't add to that total. mr grizz isn't watching - if you have the dynamo roller on a goldie seeking round (opening the gushers), you can roll headlong into the goldie and it'll drop an absolutely obscene amount of eggs. if you meet it at the right angle you can basically bring it from full health to popped in one go! - hazard level max always has a total egg quota requirement of 69 (21 / 23 / 25) - I don't remember if this was mentioned on a previous episode or not, but in salmon run, if you fall in the water, you don't count as being splatted until your drowning animation has finished. if you're the last person alive in the last ~3 seconds of the match and in danger of dying, you can jump in the water and nothing else can kill you while you're flailing around. Everyone can be splatted after the wave has finished, you only lose if it happens while in a wave, so if the timer runs out while you're drowning you still win! - this is less of a fact more of an opinion but I still think it would be a Really Good Idea to do a bonus salmon run episode with some friends or even some of the overfishing players if you're able to get in contact with them?? there's a whole section of the splatoon community dedicated to salmon run (I don't follow much of the overfishing scene but it's big enough to have a whole part of sendou dot ink dedicated to it) and it's always more fun with friends you can communicate with (even if they don't have a ton of splatoon experience) than 3 randoms. there's also another golden salmon run rotation in just over 2 weeks! (july 23rd)

For high tide, it's generally better to stay on the basket side unless briefly going over to deal with fly fish or stingers. Bosses piling up on the far side make retrieval really difficult at higher hazard levels and reviving someone who died far away is difficult.

This is easily my least favorite of the Salmon Run maps, especially in High Tide. 20:30 Another thing to note about the Goldies dropping different number of eggs: all 4 amounts (1, 3, 5, and 10) will make the Goldie make a different sound effect upon defeat, making it so you can memorize the sound effects and know how many eggs it dropped immediately. Another fun fact: I once got two or three 10 egg Goldies in a single round before, so that was fun

Quick question Emile: how come you don’t shoot back/down the Drizzler’s Inkstorms more often? It sounds and looks really helpful, and Inkstorms can be extremely annoying to deal with once they’re on the field.

He probably just doesn't notice them, and besides, that's just it; they're "annoying" not necessarily "dangerous". They CAN kill you, but they're also not top of the list of priorities. Also sometimes you tunnel vision the Drizzler and a Salmonid's like "WATCH THIS" from behind. Though I agree, shooting down inkstorms can definitely help. And getting an easy kill on one of the upper half of hard-to-kill salmonids is welcome.

@@diortememirp6204 Annoying is the same as dangerous. When multiple Inkstorms start you get pushed to the corner or into other salmonids. Besides you lost mobility and must repaint, for which you not have time on higher difficulty. I recommend shooting them down, especially where you lineup with the Drizzler for a insta kill.

@@diortememirp6204 Personally, I'm of the opinion that Drizzlers are extremely dangerous, like top 3 bosses to prioritise next to Stingers and Flyfish. Inkstorms control so much area that ignoring these things escalates the broader situation very quickly. Treating them as but a nuisance is a trap. They contribute deceptively much to reaching a failstate and doubly so if you allow them to remain active near the basket. The missiles aren't hard to shoot down for most weapons. Even if you can't dispatch the Drizzler right away, it's still worth taking that half a second to stop the inkstorm, because the inkstorm is (typically) going to do far more damage than losing half a second of uptime on other enemies.

17:42 - Interestingly enough, I find the E-Liter to be one of my preferred weapons in SR. Most of the bosses are pretty easy to hit (compared to people on an enemy team), and the E-Litre can 1HKO many bosses from an incredible distance. Pretty solid for SR overall IMO.

Surprised Emile didn't seem to utilize it at all, but Dynamo Roller in Salmon run has the very good benefit of crushing Cohocks. So Rolling around can be more beneficial than flinging in many cases. I do have to commend his usage of the sting ray to defeat the two Stingers though!

I was so amazed when I realized that each station (or at least some of them) in Deepsea Metro has special objects floating in the backgrounds like Gamecubes, Polly Pockets, Gameboys, Flip Phones, and Roll-Up Bubblegum. I never noticed that until last episode! I can’t wait to see the rest of those floating easter eggs!

Not sure if you knew/ were gonna go over this, but when viewing the Mem Cakes, if you hold ZL and move and hold the R stick in one direction, then let go of the stick while holding ZL, the Mem cake will stretch and spin like it’s elastic. Just thought it was a cute little Easter egg you could show!

My favorite salmon run stage. Love how close quarters everything is, meaning long range enemies aren't nearly as much of a threat as in other stages and the ramps and the walls of the spawn area give a good amount of high ground to fight off salmonids in the spawn area. High tide might seem like a pain but the second island can give some relief if the spawn island is overrun.

Even though we likely won't be seeing Salmon Run again, and thsi might have even been mentioned (but I've forgotten): If you jump into the ocean after the final wave ends, you can desync the Exit Mission animation, as you will be busy respawning while your "friends" leave you behind. Added to that, you will fly across the sky as the innertube, not squid form.

I really do like Salmon run in most circumstances. Working together feels a lot more appealing sometimes than trying to fight another team of players. The rotation allows me to use weapons I may not usually play without sacrificing my rank or making me play turf war. I like it enough that I get to professional 400 pretty consistently with good weapon/map combinations. Kind of a shame that Chugga's not that big a fan of it, but I do get that it's not for anyone.

To be honest, it took me until this year to realize the pun in Brute Rollup Station. Here’s a Marooner’s Bay and Salmonid Smokeyard exclusive tip! Different Salmonids interact with the propeller lifts on these stages differently. Enemies like the Chums, Smallfries, Cohocks, Maws and Scrappers can follow you onto these lifts, but Steel Eels and Grillers cannot. At the very least, it’s useful for Griller waves if you want to stay alive.

Personally, Low Tide Smokeyard vastly reduces the map's difficulty since it's practically one giant plane so you can't really get screwed over by anything

as a note, the higher difficulty the salmon run is means you often have better team mates! yYou can roughly tell how tough any given run will be by the quota. Lower difficulties require less eggs to complete the round where as higher ones require higher amounts of eggs. So, ironically, higher difficulties really could be easier as the knowledge of your teammates for the mode increases. I was hard carried when I got my first hazard level max but it was easily the most fun game of salmon run I ever played.

Pro tip: If you get a dynamo roller in salmon run, it's actually a really good idea to roll. This is about the only time wherein rolling is a viable strat with the dynamo since it one shots the big salmonid and uses less ink when it rolls. Flick when taking out bosses or painting turf. On top of this, it's overpowered with the firefly event because you can just slowly walk forward, and enemies will run themselves into your roller provided you're positioned with no route to your back.

A big reason why Cohock events stick out as appearing so often for you is because it's one of only three special events that are possible on low tide, the others being fog and mothership. On profreshional, the latter two each have just a 0.8% overall chance of happening on a given wave (since those are possible at all tides), whereas Cohocks on low time has a much larger 4.2% rate since it's *only* possible on low tide, which also means that a full 28% of all low tide waves will be Cohocks, vs 5.3% each for the others, with 61% of low tide waves being normal.

Smokeyard's layout is kind of tough, because the areas are split. The lifts are very precarious and the chance of getting stranded on the opposite side are significant in High Tide, to the point where a lot of people just kind of avoid it if it isn't necessary to go over there, I think. Low Tide, on the other hand, is very very spacious, but there are only two spawn points and and layout is a rather long stretch, which does introduce some issues of its own. Overall, though, I'd say the Low Tide is fairly easy, but High Tide is brutal here. 18:42 Tip: Do not abandon the cannon unless you absolutely have to. If you enter a cannon at the start of the wave, your team is best served if you dedicate to that role for the entire wave. You more or less need 2 constant cannons for this wave to go smoothly (at higher hazard levels) and it usually will be very smooth indeed if you can coordinate that, with the other two players focusing on running eggs. Regular weapons just cannot contend with that many cohocks plus bosses and a single cannon would become very strained to keep up. If you do your cannon duty properly, the runners should have no trouble at all reaching the target amount.

We return to salmon run today. Always a fun time, that is. We also return to the trend of Emile falling to his death. That, too, is always a fun time. I thought for sure he was going to die using that final splashdown in the middle of a jump. And with that, we appear to be a quarter of the way through octo expansion. So much progress, already. That fog hazard is really cool, actually. Usually fog in games sucks. Just look at fire emblem. Emile managed to die by falling in salmon run. I really should count how many time that happens in this series, considering how often I mention it. Probably won't, but I should.

chugga, you can shoot the rain maker bombs before they go into the air. if you do it at the right angle it sends it back and will kill the boss that sent it. it's usually the most efficiant way to do it and it helps keep the area clean of ink clouds.

I've beat Hazard level max before. Ironically I did better when I got it at Profreshional 400 rather than like 700-800. If you play enough Salmon Run though you start to get a plan for dealing with Boss Salmonids at various angles, and it makes HLM doable. May the squid God (Squod?) have mercy on your soul if you get mid tide gusher, though. That's probably the worst event with randos because it's mostly RNG and people (including myself) shoot first and ask questions later when it comes to the gushers, rather than shooting one and seeing its height (time limit doesn't help either). At least High Tide there's less gushers and thus a better chance of getting a Goldie near your base. Mid tide if you take too many gushers you won't even have space to hit the Goldie with all the salmonids bodyblocking it eventually. That and other events change a ton if you have a splat or dynamo roller, though; they squash chums and small frys (and Cohocks if it's a dynamo roller) in one hit with the roll. That plus the massive trail of ink you leave behind makes them extra valuable, and gives the clunky, slow dynamo roller a REALLY good niche. Hell, if you're on top of things, you can even oneshot a couple bosses (steel eel for example). Only other thing that can really do that is E-Liter, and as chugga pointed out it's a really weak Salmon Run weapon, mostly cause you can't make quick decisions or changes to your plan when you have to hold a terrible charge. Also I love the Cannons because if you focus on being a cannon you get a DISGUSTINGLY high amount of regular eggs. Like 900--1000 high, if you're good; it's awesome. Though don't worry about your score too much; if someone takes eggs from the boss you just killed, let them. It matters more to get eggs in the basket to exceed the quota than having your personal score go up by 2, and so long as you beat wave three, what does it matter? High numbers are cool to see, but low numbers are perfectly acceptable if they make it to the end. Good stuff, chuggaa. Good stuff.

Salmonid Smokeyard is my second favorite salmon map behind Ark Polaris; good normal and mid tide but horrible high tide (especially when freelancers lure all the bosses to the side away from the basket). Tip for using the cannons: the cannons can splat Steelheads by shooting any part of their body while the bomb is exposed; taking them out is very effective for helping the egg runners.

Salmonid Smokeyard is one of the best maps. Like others have said, on high tide it's much easier for the team if you keep bosses near the basket. Constantly visiting the other side will make it harder to reach higher quotas. And that goes for the Cohock rounds too. Steelheads, Maws, Drizzlers, Steel Eels and even Flyfish will eventually come closer to the basket. Although that's more of an advanced technique. Hitting those torpedoes are actually somewhat important. At profresh 100 it's not such a dire point. But once you're in HLM you don't want to be dealing with rain from three drizzlers plus everything else. Rain + tenta missiles + stingers is not fun lol

Not sure if this was previously brought up during a Salmon Run video, but during low tide Cohocks, the turret can just shoot the body of the Steelhead while it has its bomb out instead of needing to aim at the bomb! Also, the Dynamo Roller is both great and awful for Salmon Run. Its slow speed and high ink usage are super annoying when you need to revive a teammate (which was actually demonstrated in this video haha) but being able to just run over Cohocks like butter is super satisfying, plus hearing a biliion Golden Eggs when rolling over the Gold One is something only the Dynamo Roller can do (to my knowledge, anyway)

when you are in a geyser match where the goldie hides the dynamo roller can be incredibly overpowered. Basically you keep kissing the Goldie with the Dynamo and it will shoot out golden eggs like a machine gun.

Tis True, platforms are the only way across to the other side. If the platforms are fully to the other side, you can either squid jump from platform to Grate or from Grate to platform to get to the other side. Going from from Platform to Grate can be a bit tricky since if you continue to hold the Squid button, you'll fall through. So be careful.

Fun fact: in salmon run, you can tell if a special event is happening right around the 5 second mark (it’ll turn to night around that point) and sometimes you can tell what kind of special event happens around the 3 second mark (you cant tell what kinda of event it is if its glowflies/grillers)

Honestly, Hazard Level Max with good teammates is easier than the minimum hazard level with bad teammates. I've played hundreds of HLMs with other high-ranking "Overfishers". Once y'all get a good rhythm going it's not that bad of a difficulty.
