A little tour of Church Bank Cemetery in Wallsend mainly looking at the final resting places of some of Wallsend's well known residents from the past, such as Robert Richardson Dees, Joseph Duffy etc.

I have passed by this cemetery thousands of times over the years and didn't realise how big it is. Another great video by Julie who keeps us well informed with these little gems of local knowledge. Thank you Julie.

Thank you so much, I am glad you enjoyed it. I have spent a lot of time in this cemetery looking for family graves, before that I also thought it was quite a small place.

While I think you're correct that there are no Duffy descendants living locally, there are some more distant family members who do. My Grandmother on my Mothers side was a Duffy (not sure if she was a Daughter or Granddaughter). I for one still live reasonably local and as a child on frequent trips to Wallsend High Street would notice the Borough Theatre but never had an reason to suspect that I had a tenuous connection to it.

Hi, thank you for that information, I have to admit at the time I made this video I had not done a full family history search of the Duffy family, I may do this sometime in the future, but I do fully agree some other distant family members may be in the area, and I guess many may not even know they are related.

He was my great great grandfather on my mother's side, there's some of us live in Newcastle and indeed lived down the road in Walkerville in the 70s

@@BunnymanNew I kind of wish I had put this video on years ago when they rebuilt the Duffy memorial fountain in Wallsend park and were hoping to find some local relatives, but didn't seem able to find any.

Sorry, you did go in the older part of the cemetery, I often wondered what those little covered buildings were for, thanks.

Do they still Bury people there?, I have visited the older part behind the wall, there are some really old graves there.

Hi no, no new burials there now, however if you own a plot already there and there's space you can be buried with a relative.
