That old rebind is a real keeper. Talk about a legacy bible.

Where do you get your leather for rebounding?

I agree about the older bibles with India paper. I have a large print Oxford Blackface (circa 1930s) & the paper is amazing. No comparison with newer paper.

How does the paper in the new red letter CBP Turquoise compare to that in the older black letter edition? It's supposed to be thicker, I think, and because of that they deleted the dictionary - or so I heard. But I'm more interested in the gloss. The older black letter has a sheen that causes the reader to be concerned about the lamp-page-eye angle. How glossy is the newer, supposedly thicker paper in the red letter edition?

I have the CBP 120 RL wide margin. But, I intend on getting the CBP midsize Turquoise In lambskin black text. I’m growing to like the black text better these days.

I purchased the Hand Size Turquoise Black Letter edition from CBP. At the time I purchased the one piece Iron Calf Skin in the Black Letter, the Red letter was not available. I have tried to get used to the Black Letter, but I just can't get used to it. I then saved enough money to buy the Red Letter Scofield Study Bible, and for some reason I just do not care for it, I got it in the Black Calf Skin from CBP, plus it is a little large for me to carry to and from Church. I use a cane due to some major Breast Cancer Health complications. So now I am stuck with these two Premiums that I do not use. I am now trying to save up for a Red letter Turquoise. I need to find a home for the two CBP Bibles I do not use. I just can't purchase another Bible til I find a home for them, even though I am saving money for a Red Letter Turquoise CBP. I am not sure why I shared so much, I guess sometimes I have a tendency to over share. Lol... Thank you for your video.

Please check out and join EVERYTHING BIBLES!!! group on Facebook and I'm sure you would be able to trade one or both editions for the edition you want. Or, maybe someone might have something else to offer as a trade that you might like.

Good review. Yes with those old Bibles the print plates were also newer and sharper and first generation vs. scanned in addition to better paper. You have a gem for sure. That said the CBP are a great value and I find my CBP Turquoise extremely easy to read. Really like that extra margin on the RL edition. For me it is plenty of space to write in since all I really add are verse references and word definitions. For me it enables the Turquoise to be a full study Bible. I was going to get the Cambridge Turquoise but may just get the CBP 140 RL instead because of that extra margin and the CBP still having excellent readability. Also I find that the CBP paper is durable and handles marking well at least with my perfected tools. My preferred tools are a mechanical pencil with 0.5mm 2B high quality anti smearing pencil lead and "Hi-Glider" gel stick highlighter.

130 and 140 are now all with the wider margin. We moved the text out of the gutter and standardized the size. Thanks CBP

Thanks so much Rob! The wider margin is so nice!

Could it be that if the printing on the older India paper was as dark as the CBP Bible would ghost just as much ? Maybe it's not the paper it's the darker ink on the newer Bible ?

Great point and that is very true.

They were available just before we got these, they found the error just in time brother. I'm trying to figure out how to make that page look as best I can??? Or I might leave it alone for unique collectable bible geek purposes 😂

The outer margin on the (new) red letter edition looks like about .75 inches, not 1.00 inch. Can anyone confirm that for me?

I always thought India paper was super thin, but no. Hardly any ghosting.
