While it is another excellent episode, the Nicean creed IS NOT the one here quoted, nor anyone believes today. It was improved and amended at a later council in Constantinople. Later the "filoque clause" was added but only in the west (first by Augustine and ratified at Toledo). What he recited is called the Niceno-Constantiplean creed. I don't blame the presenter and I am sure he knows what I wrote is true. No presentation can ever be complete, even the Bible states that if all were written about Christ not all the books in the world would be enough. So, this is not criticism, more like a footnote for anyone who wants more. Some of the canon laws of Nicea were quite revealing, such as the one baning men who castrated themselves (like Origen) from Church office. This is important because it highlights the growing error of the Church in promoting celibate elders and bishops in COMPLETE opposition to the Bible REQUIRING marriage for Church office. Neo-platonic thought, which shares much with Gnostic and Manichean ideas had already deeply corroded the Church. To make me happy I would like this guy to expand this one episode to 389.5 hours at minimum :) BTW I am a layman who has never seriously studied history or theology. So imagine what I expect from a lecture about single carbon human metabolism, or how I answer my grandkids about why the sky is blue. My wife of 44 years is a patient woman.

Your history is off . The council of nicea in 325ad did not consult the bible. The working out of theological and christological inconsistencies were dealt with through philosophy, heremenutics , consoluting some nt letters . The writings of the new testament were still being collected and looked over for inclusion jnto the new canon. Itd still be fifty years before the catholic bible was agreed upon by the divinely inspired ,authoritative church.
