The Churchill'sarmor is obviously better than the KV armor since it was designed...well meant to let's say this to withstand hits by more powerful German guns. However it only has solid shot where you have to rely on spoiling...which isn't reliable at all. But in the KV you get APHE round which has less penetraition..but if you manage to pen, you are literally able to kick the Churcill out of the fight especially in a close quater urban battle. I think it was pretty much just balanced, I bet for a draw to be honest. It's a pity the Germans don't have heavy tanks between 4.0 and 5.0 (stolen tanks don't count). Yes the British were the last country to keep using Solid shot ammo. And it hurt the performance of the tanks in a bad way. APCR, HEAT, and APHE .. and my favorite ACHE "Anti-Concrete High Explosive" are all designed to do more damage than a solid shot, if it pens. That last round is found on the KV2.

This was very 1 sided Churchill having almost unpenable armor for the KV-1 the Churchill has more likely chance to pen and easy ways to pen the only down fall was speed and sold shot other than that Churchill had this in the bag

The Churchill VII cannon is probably one of the worst pieces of crap in the entire British tree - it's no good for anything, and with equally crappy ammunition. Why is there no Churchill VII version with a six-pound gun in the game? At least it would shoot quickly with slightly better penetration. I will also add that I am still waiting for the Churchill IV version with a 94 mm howitzer, exactly the same as the Alecto.

not that bad of a tank when used as a support tank in up tier, frontline tank in down tier. Youre your teammates meat shield, yes you wont get the kill but your team can confidently advance as long as they stay behind you

Honestly major skill issue on the KV team the Churchill is a garbage tank. Angle ur turret and hull on a KV and they can’t do anything to you

Churchill is the only 4.7 heavy that can frontally pen a tiger and take a hit from it at the same time. T14 can pen but wont take the hit, KV1 can take the hit but wont pen

Except that the KV has a protuding breach while the Churchill does not. If the KV player lacks the knowledge to shoot at the roof (and 99% of them DON'T know either the breach issue or the roof weakpoint), the Churchill can pen the KV constantly via the breach. I took out anything that way from KV-1S, KV-1E, KV-1 ZiS 5, and even KV-85 and IS-1.
