For those who are curious, Rockets as flares do NOT work against most heli mounted weapons in war thunder. Especally seeing as how few are even affected by actual flares since many are beam riding ie Vikhr, laser ie hellfire, or saclos ie ataka with the few IR being used in the video ATAS (Pre-flareable), TY90 (pretty much unflareable) and Mistrals (Unsure, might be pre-flareable). Also early jets only made the IR missiles better because of the obvious heat profile increase.

In a very meaningful way, they didn't. They mostly used ATGMs. Either way, with the systems in the game that lets a single player fly a 2-person attack helicopter effectively (the lock on camera that lets them fire accurately when they acquire a target), you get this battle. If you prevent them from using those, I doubt the helicopters would get more than 2 kills with guns just from the logistical nightmare of trying to fly the helicopter while controlling an independent gun. It's much harder than flying a WW2 plane.

@@icebox829 That's just it, with a trained crew or an additional player to run the guns. Without that, you've got 1 person trying to both fly the helicopter while running the gun.

I think in this scenario in my opinion is almost similar to the F-22 vs F-15 where the F-22 wins by a long shot because they are able to target the F-15 without being detected and thus get the first strike which ultimately makes the F-22 Raptor the winner, but in also if the F-15 gets first strike and get the F-22 to dogfight with the F-15, the F-15 wins in a 1-on-1 dogfight with the F-22

Just not true lol. The f-22 has better flight performance and would easily win a 1v1 against the f-15. The f-15 is more used nowadays as a missile bus.

they wouldn't be good because they don't pull a lot of gs. If the enemy isn't stupid and don't just fly in a straight line they they could easily dodge the spikes or pars.

you could use Me163 or Ki 200, and turn off your engine everytime an IR missile fired at you and glide towards them, the lack of heat source and the fact both of them are quite maneuverable should reduce the chance of you getting hit by one

wtf is wrong with all the heli pilots!? barely any long range kills... 2 Ka-50s should be able to down atleast 20 planes before the planes get closer than 1/2 km to them, especially since most of the planes didnt use the terrain for cover, in general all heli pilots whos gameplay we saw struggled with their controls and looked like they havent played much with helis
