I was married in the temple in Dec 2016. I can testify with Elder Renlund of the power of temple blessings. The temple is such a special place, I wouldn't give up those blessings for anything.

I can't have a temple recommend because I am caught in the sin of addictions. BUT I go to the temple just to sit in the waiting room every thursday because I know it is a commandment to attend the temple, and I feel SO much peace in there. It's like angels made out of polyester blankets are embracing me and I see light that I otherwise wouldn't see.

Pretty soon those addictions will be nothing compared to what you love most, and the strength will come to cease doing them. I was drinking every night for years... Then I decided to go back to Church. For a month I still battled alcohol, until one day the bishop told me "keep the commandments"... Which was very basic, but had true meaning. From then on I have been sober 100%. That was 14 years ago.

Elizabeth Brown Sometimes things of God defy definitions. I accept that Gospel teachings are not always definitive to outcome. Salvation thru faith on Jesus' name is enough for me and upon which I build. The teachings of the LDS Church dont need definitive correctness which opens room for doubt. The teachings are and have been based on God's love for us. These teachings give guidance to a path which when followed give discipline and rewards to a devotion of faith.

Never before in the history of this world have we been so blessed with such clear and accessible light and teaching in our own homes. Despite the effects of the disastrous Covid-19 virus we can continue to be nourished, uplifted and unified through such significant messages as this one. Along with millions of others I am so grateful to our Heavenly Father for all scripture and the continuous flow of inspiring media messages which we receive almost daily.

We can fulfill Isaiah's prophecy as we participate in temple blessings whether or not Isaiah saw our specific temple. The blessings of the gathering of Israel to the House of the Lord are just as valid in Jerusalem as they are in Salt Lake City or Cebu. Modern day stakes of Zion parallel Israelite lands of inheritance. In ancient and modern times, the construction of temples among righteous people represents the devotion and consecration of a nation and the enduring presence and power of God among his people.

Joseph Smith, quoting John the Revelator, indicated this gift is so important that( every “man who has the testimony of Jesus,” is a prophet, “)(for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. -Revelation 29:l0th )verse” (TPJS, p. 119) In ancient times it was thought that only a few people could be prophets. In fact, they often declared that they wanted only a certain person to be a prophet for all the people. Joseph Smith said this was a wrong concept and declared: . . . the people should (each one stand for himself, )(and depend on no man or men)( in that state of corruption) of the Jewish church-that (righteous persons could only deliver their own souls)(-applied it to the present state of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-)said if the people departed from the Lord, (they must fall-that they were depending on the Prophet)(, hence were darkened in their minds, in consequence of neglecting the duties devolving upon themselves), . . . (TPJS, pp. 237-238) And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. And [91] Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? Would God that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them! (Num. 11:25-29) " come listen to a Prophets voice" read the words to the hymn.. God is not a respecter of persons' we are All suppose to Seek Christ's' face. And receive our calling and election made sure! These men are not special witnesses! For no one is special!! We are All alike unto God. And to be able to say you've seen Christ well, I've seen Christ , I say this humbly and not to boast of myself. For I am nothing! As are these men.

think about it like this. Satan would only oppose God's true church most and some of his greatest works. 2 isn't enough to do justice to how truly inspired by God this is. There is an adversary and he has influence over some but be of good cheer Christ overcame his adversaries and we can too through his atonement. Opposition is part of the plan expect and accept it. Just enjoy the videos and move on from dissenters because we know how the story ends on both ends 😉😇

Why or how do the Mormons believe the Salt Lake temple is in fulfillment of Isaiah prophecy about the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains? I'm honestly asking. Did Joseph Smith declare the Lord revealed it to him even though he died hoping the Nauvoo temple would be built? Did Brigham Young declare it was the fulfillment of the prophecy even though he never declared he received a revelation it was fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy? The Salt Lake temple was not even built in the tops of the Mountains, but rather in a valley next to the mountains, so how is the Salt Lake temple fulfilling the prophecy? Could some other temple, or some future temple, whether built by Mormons or not, still be built in the tops of the mountains to fulfill the Isaiah prophecy?
@mattydavis35018 жыл бұрын
These questions would be great to ask the Missionaries. You can even chat with them online at mormon.org/chat . One thing that I did think about while reading your questions was something I have heard before. The name Utah comes from the Ute people or the "people of the mountains". The word Utah meaning "top of the mountains" in the Ute language. In Isaiah 2:2 it says "that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains,". The Salt Lake temple was the first temple built "in the top of the mountains" aka Utah. And as a side note, Utah was named by non-LDS politicians. Hope this helped, I know I did not answer all of your questions and I hope you reach out to the Missionaries to learn more. Hope you are having a good day :)

Hey John. First of all although the Salt Lake Temple is in a valley and not literally on the top of a mountain peak, it does sit at 4,500 feet about sea level with mountains on both sides of it. If you look at the elevation of the US, Salt Lake City definitely sits much higher than the majority of the country. I grew up in Chicago where seriously the tallest hill in our entire town was 200 feet high. If you are from Utah or the Mountain West you may be taking for granted just how high up Salt Lake City is in comparison to the rest of the country. Also Brigham Young did say that it fulfilled the prophecy. This is from Brigham's dedicatory prayer of the Southeast Corner Stone, "We dedicate this, the Southeast Corner Stone of this Temple, to the Most High God. May it remain in peace till it has done its work, and until He who has inspired our hearts to fulfil the prophecies of His holy Prophets, that the House of the Lord should be reared in the “Tops of the Mountains,” Isa. 2:2 shall be satisfied, and say, 'It is enough.' " Many other prophets and Apostles also have said that it fulfills the prophecy (Harold B. Lee, LeGrand Richards, and many others. You can see a full list at scriptures.byu.edu by going to Isaiah 2:2) and many have also said we continue to fulfill the prophecy by building temples (Mountains of the Lord) on mountains and hills around the world. Your logic is a very typical flaw with Western thinking when attempting to interpret and understand scriptures written by Jews (eastern thinkers). In Jewish logic you don't have a single meaning for each prophecy, you have a multitude of meanings and fulfillments for each prophecy. Jeffrey R. Holland even discusses this concept in his 2011 talk, An Ensign to the Nations, by talking about how the SLC temple is a partial fulfillment of the prophecy. Other prophets and apostles support that this is the official view of the church. Hope that helps.

"and all nations shall flow to it" has this not occurred in your life time or in the past 100 years?
