I've found a cup or 2 of clean drain gravel works great at cleaning the rust and crud out of old scooter gas tanks. I had an '82 passport tank I thought I was going into the trash, but the gravel and some citric acid powder made it sparkle inside!

@@jackrutherford-1 what’s the next ‘ped on your list? I put the 84 jet on my nu50, four strokes a bit so I’m going to drop it to 82 today. Need to take the oil pump out at some point, it’s annoying taking the carb on/off. I’m scared this next level stock pipe is just going to be a hassle.

A few things….First: This is awesome! Jackson’s excitement brought a smile to my face. Secondly: What’s going on at the “special place”? I gotsta know! Lastly: Agree that I’m thankful for folks who post KZbin videos of this stuff (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

I just recently acquired a 1978 orange Honda nc50 with 600 original miles and pretty much original everything else but I'm having issues keeping it runnin qhen when idling without the choke on and even with that it dies what should I do
@jackrutherford-12 жыл бұрын
there's an idle jet (long, cylindrical brass tube) in the carb that gets clogged preventing idling. You can either take a really thin wire and try to poke it through or soak the top half of the carb in Chemdip or related cleaner and clean it out.

Hey do you happen to have a good wiring diagram or pic of the dash lights on the 82 Yamaha Towny.....when ignition is in start position dash lights are on, when you switch ignition to run they go off. !???? Any thoughts

Good morning, I just got cleaning out my ho da express carburetor and it still does the same thing. I even put on a new carburetor and still does the same thing, it revs for a second then it cuts out. Now I know that is an electrical problem is there a way that I can disconnect the ignition switch and just run it from the handlebar switch for testing purposes? If anyone knows of something, give me a shout thanks and I’ll catch you on the next one.
@jackrutherford-12 жыл бұрын
will it idle without dying and does it only die when you give it gas?
@miguelpagansr61282 жыл бұрын
@@jackrutherford-1 it dies when I give it gas, but if it idles for more than a few seconds it dies out. It’s almost like I may have an electrical problem and even with the new carb it does the same exact thing. Which is why I’m thinking about bypassing the ignition switch and see what happens. I’ve seen a similar problem on a Yamaha qt50 it’s worth the shot.

@@miguelpagansr6128 you need to drill out the pilot jet with micro drill bits. It is too small so not enough gas gets in and/or turn the air/fuel screw all the way in.
