For those on a budget, the Chuwi FreeBook 360 N100 laptop is perfect. This is also perfect for students, Microsoft Word, emails as well as web browsing. For a laptop under $360 the 720p webcam and internal mic quality are good, not perfect but good. The internal speaker quality is fair. Obviously it doesn't suck and affordability is the key here folks. Thank you Andrew for showcasing this very affordable laptop. 👍😁

I am happy that it doesn't suck. Competition from younger brands is always a good thing. I am curious how much durable it is in long term.
@shebby0204Күн бұрын
it's as durable as those cheap Acer laptops. good enough for the price.

I guess a common complaint is the screen brightness doesnt go lower. Any work arounds on that? Otherwise i love it.

Thanks for the review. Please see if the video out to a monitor works with a hub or dongle. Great video as always.

I got the Minibook X a few weeks ago.. they definitely have a quality control issue, the USB-C ports are slightly sunk, and off center.... The result being, inserting stuff as I normally would does not work, and applying pressure will feels like its about to damage the port - Instead, everytime I insert something, I have to look closely at the port, and be tactful with the USB-peripheral, insert it at a cert again so that it catches the USB-C connector, and then wiggle it for quite a while, to ensure its properly connected. I debated sending it back, but after waiting 3 weeks for delivery, I couldn't bear the thought of going through months of back and forth to get this rectified. Its a shame, as this device it self, feels incredibly well build and extremely good value,. I can't deny they are extremely good value and aside from the USB ports, extremely well built..

Interesting stuff. Are there devices like this with the N chips that are a little more powerful? Not sure if there is an N200 or N300 etc. Thanks for the review!

I ordered one through wish and it was actually decent. The only thing that made it unusable for me was an issue with the touchpad. The middle part was not working. Might be an issue with my unit but I wouldn’t buy Chuwi again.

Nice laptop for the price no doubt. Regarding the ssd with lower read and write speeds it probably will not make that much difference in speed with a faster one since the processor is not that powerful. Camera is fair. Display is good. This unit is good for basic functions. Great review.

I am considering this one since it's a rare one to have 86 key keyboard, perfect layout. The rest of the design is also quite logical. Reading that the reliability of the brand is quite poor. It's cheap, yes, but not free... Having seeing it disassembled in the review allowed me to see that at least the hinge is fixed by 3 screws, but into plastic. Not decided yet to risk

Did you end up buying it? How is it?

I think chuwi has a laptop with i5 1250u around the 500 dollar price range which I think is decent value

The charger sucks a bit its a 12 Volt 3 A USB-C charger. But the laptop doesn’t support the Power Delivery (PD) protocol. Plugging in a modern 65 Watt GAn charger seems to work, but puts 20 Volt on the port. Which isn’t recommended. It does seem to work and doesn’t fry the port immediately, but I quickly stopped using anything else but the original charger (did pick up a similar charger from aliexpress). The supplied charger has coil whine in combination with the laptop. The left USB-C is just USB 2 data. It is a bargain, I fitted it with a 2 TB NVMe SSD. Memory should be DDR5 and single channel, N100 only supports single channel. The CPU isn’t a Celeron, it’s just 4 Efficiency cores from the Intel 12th generation CPUs.

cpu as strong as i5-7300hq on older gaming laptop, which is still very much serviceable in 2024, with way better battery and looks. very impressive tbh. though repairability is a concern. it might not even have parts to fix when something breaks

if they fully removed this capacity of battery they would save a few more pounds in a price and very slightly reduce some weight, They wouldn't lost any time this "la[top" may from battery. from 0 to 0 - no change
