Fun fact, the amount of KGB agents that were actually in the U.S was very surprising (your professor or even the quiet kid at the back of the class could be a KGB agent).

Are you watch Yuri Bezmenov lecture or 4 stage toward marxism-leninism, Its suprisingly KGB used education tactic to demoralized student to created destabilized period including activism and Social Justice Warrior. First KGB only sent professor, teacher that from soviet and KGB to america college not lecture about basic subject but either social construct,Gender studies and Marxism, After that it done from people to people until it broke crisis which civil war between marxism-leninism faction and the nationalist once and after the crisis over that won by marxism-leninism, the Soviet Union and KGB designated a Marxism-leninism party that infact not by its people alone but by Soviet Spy that eventually led to country became communist state and those marxism and leninism supporter or people will be crushed by the New Marxist Goverment alone, This actually happen in Afghanistan & Czechoslovakia

My grandad was in the RAF and was stationed on the Berlin Wall.... Well under it in 1960, in a listening post intercepting soviet messages and sending it all back to the HQ. After the collapse he found out the kgb built one right next to his and sent him fake messages and managed to figure out what the HQ was up to and eventually got an agent into it.

The KGB was far more effective when you get to many specific operational facts, the cost to information gathered was far greater for the KGB when compared to what the CIA would have to invest to gather equal data. The CCCP was also much harder to influence and infiltrate when paired to the US, they also had way more linguistic experts and because of its location they also had many ethnic experts in many areas where the US could only buy assets. They also had the same fear aspect that Mossad shares today. In fact the KGB was so influential in their nation they had to break it up into three departments after the cccp collapsed

Which one is better depends on the metrics used to measure them by. The KGB was able to surpass the CIA in many ways, but the damage done by the CIA was much more devastating relatively speaking. Ultimately the US economy was able to absorb the intelligence failures where where the USSR’s economy could not.

I don't believe the cold war ever truly ended. The two aspects that defined the period were nuclear stockpiles and proxy wars. The nuclear stockpiles have decreased drastically, and it seems both sides are aware that it isn't a feasible option, but the proxy wars never stopped. The idea behind the proxy wars was to indirectly engage through supporting opposing sides in a conflict they often instigated in order to stop the other from spreading their influence. What's changed?

The KGB was "formed" in 1954 - out of the previous versions which went back all the way to the formation of the Soviet Union. Lenin tapped his friend Feliks Dzierżyński, a Polish dissident who had been jailed by the Tsar many times for political reasons. Dzierżyński's mission: To root out, top to bottom, "counter-revolutionaries" that Lenin knew were hiding everywhere. He was given pretty much carte-blanche to do whatever he felt needed to be done to destroy the enemies of The People.

I say thet moust efectiv have been the italiens and russians, because they have legalized ther busines and are free, rich peopel now.... and the hispanic boses still watch ther back, maybe not because of other contry cartels, but in ther cartels iner enemys and other local cartels.... it s more esey to be mafia when the contrey is in mess.

@@mariot.5178 You're right that in terms of being a criminal in a less developed country that you have more power. However, the Italian mafia are full of snitches now. Take the US for an example... the Cartels are starting to work directly with the African-American street gangs by supplying them with guns and drugs to take over the streets and that is applying pressure on the Italian Mob. So now because of feeling threatened, they became rats and got a lot of Cartels deported and a lot of African-Americans in prison. I'm sorry, but the Italian & Russian mob can only operate as limited as possible. But the Cartels are global with it. Whether it be in America, Canada, Europe or even Africa!

The KGB failed because of infighting and bureaucracy, as well as nepotism/cronyism. Doesn't mean they weren't an effective service, but that eventually hamstrung them. I will argue that they did *win* in the sense that their active measures campaign against the US, starting especially in the 1960s, has had lasting effects in terms of inciting conflict between political sides here and will likely cause the destruction of the US as we know it.

It’s actually scary how advanced the KGB was. I bet many of their kills are still not discovered. It’s so interesting and impressive, but if the KGB was THAT advanced 50 years ago, I think there might be an agency like it still active today without us knowing about it. Imagine your friend working for the government, then he disappears, but you don’t know he did until someone tells you he did. America, please be careful. Just a big army isn’t all you’re gonna need to be safe. If a modern war breaks out, the world will probably be destroyed. Please. Be careful.

Hello, I love astronomy and I love your content. That being said, I would love to see a video about ROSCOSMOS and its comparison to NASA, am I asking for too much? Thank you. Play paintball, everyone!
