That's true :D We're probably masochistic that we usually expose ourselfs to those high levels of stupidity. On the other hand it's important to stay in contact and trying to understand the "other side" (even though there's more than two sides to almost every topic, but I guess you know what I mean). Not knowing something is not dumb or stupid. Being ignorant, ignoring evidence or being dogmatic about your believes is. So it's great to see some people who ask questions and actually want to hear the answer.

Yes, for people who are truly uneducated on it and those who dishonestly look for an excuse. It is predominantly people who use it as an excuse to ignore evidence they don’t like so they can confirm what they want.

For your policy on phones in the class: I'm about to start my first semester as a teacher so I'm unsure exactly how to go about certain rules. Since I'm right out of college, the rules there of course are "it's your grade not mine. If you don't pay attention that's your fault." Of course it isn't the same in high school, but honestly college intro astronomy classes feel like they're taught at a high school level. Maybe a tad bit more math except it's just algebra or simple geometry. As a TA, it usually went that after the first test, the students that used phones in class stopped immediately because they went "uh oh." What do you think if it was this way?

the ideas about wealth distribution meh. saying its corrupt to let billionaires buy off politicians isn't balanced by well its corruption to to take money from billionaires through law. complete equality on every level isn't possible but if the cost of billionaires flying private rockets around the planet is massive homeless, terrible schools, people going to bed hungry and people losing their homes because of catastrophic illness is. Humanity has bad and good traits, we understand unfairness almost innately, leaning into our bad traits because its intellectually fashionable to believe the individual must come first is horrible.
