The fifth video of the History of Political Doctrines is on Roman politics and Cicero. The video itself is more about how Ancient Rome interpreted politics and how such interpretations evolved through time. Cicero’s thoughts permeate this history and present him as one of the last supporters of a regime, the republic, that was destined to disappear because of the choices of increasingly more powerful military commanders. But these are not the only things we inherited from the Roman conception of politics. For example, the primacy of the law and the distinction between private and public life are among the principles that guided us in creating modern nation-states. Check the video to learn more.
