I feel like they're saving Cid's 'drink your goddamn tea' + broken + frustrated moments for Part 3. Part 2 is just an introduction to him where he still needs to work to make money so yep airline business so he needs to put up a friendly face. I'm sure we will get Rocket Town in Part 3 where Shinra needs the rocket to blow Meteor. There Cloud and team will meet Shera and Cid might change his attitude only when Shera is around.

Agreed. This is his businessman front to satisfy paying customers. It also plays well into the theme of party members keeping a mask up and hiding part of their emotions in front of others. Red keeping Nanaki secret, Barret pulling up his sunglasses and hiding his pain in Corel, Aerith hiding that she knows more than she let's on, heck, even Cloud having multiple personalities from his experimentation. Cid hiding his emotional baggage and flaws for now fits in with everyone else hiding part of their stories

I actually like this version of Cid. I dont get why people are getting all fussy about it. Im sure we will have more Cid Backstory in part 3. Dont forget that the OG Cid actually leads the party for a while when Tifa looked after Cloud in Mideel. Also, isn't barret swearing like a sailor enough? Cloud, Tifa, and even Areith do some swearing as well.

Cid swears in almost all of his dialogue anyway. People just think "fuck" with swearing now because curses like "shit" and "asshole" are normal in games now.

People are fussy because their nostalgia glasses messed with their brains as well. That and "FF7 was the best rpg", i.e their first played game into the foray of the series. For example: Some comments floating around youtube complained about Red XIII's voice and speech pattern changing after a certain point in the story, and ""why did they change it", and yet completely forgot that the same thing happened in OG.....

@@MrReubenTishkoff We have barely even seen his character is yet. At this point the party are his customers, why would he be a dick? You can hear his temper peeking in when the party is criticizing his flying when the engine breaks. Cid has no reason to be mad right now. When the party reaches rocket town and meets Shera I can almost guarantee we're gonna see it. My guess on how the scene will play out is we'll enter his house, Cid will get pissed off at Shera, say the drink your god damn tea line, and go outside to smoke a cigarette. Have some faith! They nailed every other party member in this game, why would Cid be completely different? He just won't be a one dimensionable caricature whos constantly angry which is far better. I can see why this Cid would want to join the party, in og ff7 he kind of just... joined

@@linkshunter608 I truly hope everything falls into place as you say. In the OG, Cid being abusive is also important for his journey as a character, as he learns in the end the reactor was really defective when it falls on him. Shera comes to help the others lift it, Cid realizes she was right, apologizes and they become a happy couple. Cid even names his new ship after her in FF7AC. I also expect the chain smokin to be back, because, let's be honest, it's the only badass way of lightning dynamite sticks!

Yeah it's a different iteration of the character entirely for better or worse. I do feel like he has a better motivation this time, but do prefer his previous characterisation. Interested to see what happens when we visit rocket town in part 3

No? But there's enough off details that it should have us unsurprised that the Cid/Rocket Town sections later in the next game have to do with higher weirdness. Wutai too for that matter, since it'll be so far different from the rather small village in FFVII. And Mideel is sure to be absurd now. Its not impossible this guy outright freaking dies and we get an alternate Cid. They even have this guy sleep through potential bonding moments. Everything so far screams 'unimportant but introduces the party to the concept of a Cid'.

Everything is already pretty screwy with all the changes Remake already introduced, as well as the fact that there's a second timeline in play (and potentially a third one as well as a scene with Biggs shows Stamp has changed dog breeds again) The simple answer: Cloud's mind has completely snapped and done so in a manner that could potentially be far worse than the original game, especially if Sephiroth gets his hooks into Cloud more than he originally did. In his mind, he saved Aerith. She could also potentially be reaching out to him, but as his mind is broken, Cloud cannot tell that she'd actually dead. Alternatively, my own crack theory is this: there was some sort of timeline merge. Cloud saved her in one timeline, but didn't save her in the other. Mentally, he sees her and thinks he's in the timeline where he did manage to save her, but physically he's in a timeline where she died. This is potentially supported by the fact that he now sees the crack in the sky that was shown several times in the alternate timeline that Zack is in. Like with the end of Remake, the theories are currently all over the place, so it's fairly obvious that one way or another, the third game in the Remake Trilogy is going to piss off a fair amount of folks (not to mention that folks with zero critical thinking skills that just wanted a straight 1:1 retelling of the original story are already pissed)

At least in the original, Bronco going down made sense. Here it makes Cid look like and incompetent discount pilot who tells you he lied about having a pilot's license when shit hits the fan.
