Just went through your blue's lessons. Ya wanna know something? 😏 I have a thinking disability. You have shown me how to look past that because I think that you may have had some fun growing up like me. You are a round peg in a square hole. When you teach, it's as if my own dad or brother was teaching me. It's rare I get what someone is trying to share. I miss one statement you used to say. You see, for me, I've gone through about 5 years of your video's all crunched into a few weeks time so I remember it all basically. You said, why have six strings when 3 is better! Something to that effect but your lessons are valuable. E, B, E is so so simple.

The tutorial worth its weight in cigars, Del! The professional way to play chords on the CBG. With me, it's hit-and-miss finding the right "sound" I am looking for! (I play by "sound" rather than "notes")...LOL...and Dominant 7 sounds always bring a grin to my face...love-'em! Well done Del, an excellent exercise in finger-placing...shame I had to retune my CBG from Open E, back to Open G, to follow you...LOL...! Keep 'em coming, Del!....😀...😀...! Take care, all!

This was very helpful. I happen to have very same C.B Gitty Chord Chart but was confused about what string was considered top G versus bottom G (on the chart) . I realize the chords can be played both ways but it was helpful to see your interpretation. This may not make sense to anyone but me I realize. LOL

CB Gitty should make the charts for other tunings, like your favorite EBe. Awesome lesson.
@hopefulhyena34003 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it just be a matter of transposing? All the shapes would be the same, it's just that the notes and chords they go to are shifted down a minor third (low EBE) or up a major 6th (high EBE).

I really like to stay away from open string notes in chords because they're not movable shapes. Another good thing about moveable shapes is they can be used in any 1/5/1 tuning.

I started playing guitar with a “traditional” 6 string. Then I “graduated” to 12 string. Obviously, the chord shapes are the same for both styles. Then I built my first CBG, which was a 12 string and a couple of 6 strings for my kids. Since then, I got in touch with Mike Breedlove of MGB Guitars in Tampa, Florida. I’ve now built several 3 and 4 string builds, to include a double neck with one neck being 3 and one neck being 4. I love the sound of a 4 string, but I also dig a 3 string. I figure that between 3, 4, and 6/12 string guitars, the 3 string is probably the easiest to “master,” as the chord shapes seem easier. I know that you’re an EBe guy, but I appreciate you doing this lesson using GDg because I’m a G guy. I love your videos. Between you, MGB, and Southern Fire, I have learned a lot. Keep these videos coming.

Is there a chart for EBE? Can I take that chart and shift the letters along?
@hopefulhyena34003 жыл бұрын
EBE should work with that chart, but you'll have to scribble out the letters and write the correct names. E is down a minor third from G, so G->E, A->F#, etc.

Reminded me of It might Get Loud where Jimmy Page turns to the Edge and says what chord is that? The Edge says C and Page gives him a look and says are you sure and the edge says yes.
