I have taken cheap cigars, i.e., Factory Smokes, take the cellophane out. Put then in a jar. Fill the empty space between the cigars with pipe tobacco. Add a boveda pack. Store it in the dark. Change the boveda pack every 3 months. The sweet spot for me is 6-12 months. You got a cheap cigar with the notes from whatever pipe tobacco you use. Haven't done it with English Blends.

Bagging on us wine lovers..😂 love it! But one thing I've found, learning to understand the palette with wine has helped enhance my cigar palette tremendously as well as helped my enjoy bourbon and other spirits I once despised from getting sick on when I was young and dumb.

Congrats on 200k brother! Been with you since tnt. I started watched you when I was 16 to grow my knowledge on cigars and couldn’t wait till I turned 18 to try my first. I’m now 24 and enjoy my weekly cigar on my Friday. Proud of how far you’ve come brother. 🤙

Tim, great vid brother. I feel your pain with the wife blasting the AC, lol. I learned a lot from you with taking care of and aging chars and keep mine at 65 percent and 68 temp. Living in the northeast PA, summer has a lot of humidity and this year especially I find that dry boxing helps especially when I buy cigars from a local Brick and Mortor store due to them keeping a higher humidity than I do. You guys do an awesome job of shipping cigars and I've never had any issues with them. Keep up the great work and u guys stay safe brother.

Started aging about 6 years ago. Tupperware, Coolidor, and pelican (like) briefcases. They all keep humidity (in Arizona), absolutely perfect. I did away with traditional wood humidors. I’ve got mostly boxes aging now. Keep all my unboxed cigars in the coolidor. I love aging cigars. In my opinion, they taste amazing.

Airtight plastic container with boveda pack at 69% humidity. The perfect combination for solid storage and super affordable. Honestly a better option than standard desktop humidors as they typically have leaks or not as solid sealing. Try it out my friend

I found a bunch of cigars in an old coolerdor without proper humidity for about 5 years I’m attempting to resurrect them! Interesting is that when I squeezed them they still had some bounce to them, not completely dried out

I inadvertently aged a lot of my cigars for about 2 years. They are in Tupperware with Boveda packs so they survived. Recently started smoking from that container and found that a lot of it smoothed out now. Especially the packs I got from cigarbid including some CAO Pilons I wasn’t too impressed with originally. I was pleasantly surprised considering I set it and forgot about them. Now I wish I had left more in there.

I have somewhere between 200 and 400 cigars (in humidors) at any given time. My cigars all in the $3-$7 range (used to be more but I'm retired now). When I get a new box I smoke one. By the time I get to the last one it might be a year or two old. Like you I discover that some taste best new while others age well with flavor enhanced.

I always keep a cigar from every box I buy, and when I receive a cigar from a friend (gift or exchange). I put them in a humidor (made with spanish cedar) specifically for aging. I use a crystal humidifier jar at 70%. So my older cigars benefit from the newer ones and vice versa. My oldest cigar is an El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme bought in Cuba in 2009 (the box dates back to 2005). I smoke these cigars only at special events (birthdays, weddings, etc.).

I hear people get notes of chocolate or cherry in the cigar but how does the cigar get that flavor? Are dried chocolate or cherry leaves wrapped in to the cigar or was the tobacco plant grown next to such plants? Greetings from Austria
@BrentTaylor-ee5oc
@BrentTaylor-ee5oc Жыл бұрын
Some cigars are infused with other organic products, but mostly what people are referring to are "flavor notes" which the particular blend suggests. In other words, examining different flavors you will find they remind you of other things. Chocolate is one I frequently find in San Andres or Maduro wrapper blends. Earth and leather in broadleaf. Wood in Corojo. Vanilla, cream, hay in Connecticut Shade. It's really just metaphor, a way to talk about specific blends in a more in depth way as not only are the flavors different but they can change within the duration of the cigar too.

I inherited a bunch of cigars from the 90's recently. Fuentes, partagas, la Flor Dominicana, Thomas Hinds, Don Juan, Cuba Aliados, Cuesta Rey, and some others. They were sealed in boxes and kept in a plastic storage bin for most of the 25 years they'd been sitting. I know he used to maintain them, but I couldn't confirm that he didn't slip up once in a while, so I rehumidified them for months in my temp controlled humidor. When the time was right, I opened them and tried them all.....MY GOD! After 25 years of fermentation, these things are total gems! I got an off one once or twice, but nearly all were just fine. I still prefer them to my newer cigars. Even great brands like my Padron and Oliva cigars aren't as exquisite as these.

Orrrrrrr you do what I do, go to total wine to get cigars cause they’ve been sitting for a long time. Seen a few with plume on them a few times. Or find cigar lounges that maybe a lot of frequent or they’re brand hogs and leave obscure cigars around. Try them too!

The Davidoff channel has a video about aging cigars. They said the tobos are good for long term aging since the tube is a mini humidor. They will age slower since they are sealed and protected. As to my aging I have only done one stick that was too bitter, but the other was smoother and last bitter after a year.

What would you recommend if you wanted to age some cigars for a longer term - say 10+ years. Maybe planing forca future wedding, anniversary, or retirement. Is it worth it? Should you just go buy some nice cigars when that special day arrives? Thx, Andy in SWFL - P.S. we have high humidity here, but the ac is always cranking. What if a hurricane knocks out the power for a week or more. Is years of properly aging gone?

I think something is missing from the conversation of aging. Age doesn’t necessarily mean the cigars improve, they change. I’ve aged and smoked some that definitely did. Then, there were others I really liked so I picked up a box and set them down only for them to be sub par. Because aging is a organic process there is no telling how the blend will react to time. There is a must or a funk a lot will pick up and that may or may not be pleasing to your palate. I do agree with Tim if you really like a blend smoke them fresh

I age every cigar I get but not long term. It's about getting them back to that 70/70 (give or take) spot. You have no idea how they've been cared for up to the point you acquired them. I've seen some smoke shops running at 40% RH in their walk in. We all work at keeping our humidors just right so imagine the challenge in a 5k square foot warehouse. I usually rest them 30 days or so, some longer. I have had some resting for years now and honestly it makes little to no difference (to my pallet) on the more expensive stuff. My budget daily smokes benefit as I have fewer smokability issues. Just my 2 cents. Smoke on team!

Wine or cigars are tough for me to age! But what i will do when I score a box...I will move 3-5 into my aging shelf of humidor and keep hands off for couple months. Fun to revisit after that period and look for nuances. Not a big flavor profiler guy...but find these better burn, draw nuanced.

Tim! You have guided my cigar journey over the past year and a half. You were the first BOTL video that I looked at and you remain my main go to. But to the topic I started aging from day one, after your recommendations. I always buy two to three of every stick that I get I smoke one I age one for 6 months and I aged the other for about a year. I'm now getting around to my 1-year sticks and I can definitely tell the difference! Btw, I just bought a Thermo humidor and the sticks are going in tomorrow! 3:41 3:41

So funny, but I just sent an email with a little towards this. My questions was, is 65% vs 69% for aging any difference… and well being that I’ve been doing 69% for 2years, I can’t stop now. 69 for life for those cigars lmao. Perhaps I get an acrylic case and age some at 65% and test it myself. Thanks Tim!

When you have 200+ cigars aging will occur unless you're a chain smoker. I've got a lot 2-3 year old cigars in my humidor. I'll admit I'm not sure if I notice much of a change after many months.
