28 days later is one of my favorite zombie movies and favorite movies period. It's such a simplistic zombie movie based almost entirely around just surviving and looking for salvation that you don't even know for sure exists. There's not really a grander story behind it, just survivors surviving which other movies like the dawn of the dead remake also does (also one of my favorites) that's usually all I really want out of these movies. I think a lot of times writers maybe overthink what a zombie movie should be when actually all of the best ones (to me) are such a simple premise of "world ends, survivors seek salvation and/or just survive" the thing that matters is the characters and their individual journey through a world like this, not having the next big plot twist on zombies. Although obviously those plot driven ones of course can still be great im not trying to say they can't.
