Nice pistols! I think you're a bit picky considering they are in the $600 range. let's be happy that someone is manufacturing these pistols. Thanks for the video...really appreciated.

I have the cimorron frontier SAA 45C with a 7.5 inch barrel and it had a 2 1/2 lb trigger pull right out of the box and it has the 4 clicks also and it is Lazer engraving too. I love it.

(Great detailed video) Having owned quite a few Cimarron Uberti and Pietta SAA clones, I am a Pietta devotee in that platform. Every one of them having been smoother and lighter actioned than the Uberti Colt clones I've owned..and for a few dollars less than the Ubertis.. The old model Ubertis (with the screw retained cylinder basepin) are still 4-click. The spring plunger models are 3 click lawyered up- mess.. I own 4 Cimarron Ubertis at the moment, though they are Remington, S&W, and Colt Open Top/conversion patterns.

The fact that you took the time to watch, and actually commented on my video is humbling sir. I've watched all of yours, some of them multiple times. I have 2 Pietta SAA's, the USV Artillery, and a Frontier. I will say that maybe I just got a bad one with the USV, because my Frontier is amazing. At least with the Uberti guns I own, the level of quality is consistent gun to gun. I too have a Uberti S&W, Remington, and Colt open top, as well as a few other SAA representations. All 4 click old models. Actually it was your video on the 3 click surprise that helped me to come better prepared when I was looking for my first one. Thanks again for your comment, and I hope you are staying well in these crazy times.

The original specimen of this revolver was stamped on the right side of the grip, so that's actually more authentic. The older Ainsworth was done on the left. Yet another win for Uberti.

On the Piette cylinder I can see the scraping marks from the forcing cone on five holes , but one of them for some reason it's not contacting the forcing cone, you can see it on film probably harder to see in your hand . I looked at the Piette lineup I like them alot for the money .

My understanding is that all Uberti black powder frame SAA clones come with the four click action. They satisfy the safety import requirement with the extra long cylinder pin that has a safe position milled into it, in addition to the fire position. The safe position makes it look identical to a Colt, while the fire position makes it stick out a bit further than a Colt.
@deniscleaver75443 жыл бұрын
I'll stick with Cimarron's quality before Colt, of which I have had numerous inner action faulty part problems. Colt surely has gone to the scrap pile of firearms manufacturers within the last ten years or so due to very inept upper management and eventually quality control! Out of the seven Colt SAA pistols I originally purchased over the last two decades, five of them were so misassembled and horrible actions requiring me to send them back to Colt for repair. I eventually sold the whole damn lot. Good-by forever!
@Cheaps928 Жыл бұрын
i agree thats the truth. thats why ive changed my mind and wont be getting the colt version. they are way past their time. Uberti rules the saa's now. and S&W rules the double actions

Or is this normal from them?

From all the pros and cons you showed on both guns, it seems like kind of a toss up to me. And concerning the CCH, that can vary even within the manufacturer.

Now that I have more of each of these both Uberti and Pietta, both have their strong suits. My personal opinion is that Uberti quality control is more consistent (albeit not perfect) than Pietta. As far a the case color... That is subjective and the very nature of it leads to differences in the finishes. In truth, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from either manufacturer, but in both cases, I would thoroughly inspect them at the counter before filling out paperwork and plopping down the cash.

I have found Armi San Marco and Armi Jager reproductions to be superior to Pietta and Uberti, unfortunately they no longer produce repros. I have several Ubertis, and Piettas also and find them adequate. I have also found many actually superior to original Colts of which I own several. The Armi Jager Dakota I currently possess can handle +P loads with no issues and has had several hundred +Ps ran through it. I do not think Pietta or Uberti could handle the pressures for any amount of time without shooting loose or worse.

So if I got a dud, I'm supposed to say it's great? I've made videos of other piettas that I've said were great because they were. I've also mentioned some things that pietta does better than Uberti. Should I go to Uberti as well? Here's the thing, when I review something that I paid for, I can say it was crap if it's crap. Just the same, I can say that I like it if I like it. My opinion is just that. My opinion, based on what I own. That being said, I'm glad you have a good one and that you like it.

I have both Pietta and Uberti SAA revolvers. The difference you describe here only pertains to your models. You cannot say that Pietta does a worse job. You are lucky when they are good. So advice is difficult to give. My Pietta is very well finished. Inside and out…. Still nice to see these two SAA like this.

Hi, could you help me? I am about to buy an 1873 5.5, 357/38 and I would like to know briefly which one I should buy / which one is better, among them Cimarron, Traditions, Pietta and Uberti, which one would have more quality and would not give me any problems. Thank you, I await the reply.
@RooftopKY3 жыл бұрын
First of all, congratulations on getting a fine colt 1873 single action replica. They are so much fun. As far as which ones to get, we'll there are basically 2 Italian companies that make all of them for import into the US. Pietta and Uberti. Both have their benefits as drawbacks. As far as out of the box initial quality goes, I'd say Uberti is better than the Pietta. However, Uberti uses a new firing pin safety design that isn't as authentic as the original 4 click hammer that pietta still uses. I honestly think that the Pietta action is better than Uberti, but is less consistent as far a quality goes (rough internal machining etc. If you get a good one, it's amazing. If you get one made on a Friday afternoon, you might need to do some stone work to smooth it out to make it great. I've had both extremes. As far as importers go, both Cimarron, and Taylors and Company import both manufacturers pistols. For a better feel, I like the El Patron model from Cimarron because it has upgraded springs in it which makes it a little smoother than stock. Taylors offers a similar upgrade to some of their guns called "Taylors tuned" and is essentially the same spring upgrade as the El Patron. EMF offers the Californian and great western lines and they are also very nice, but they are exclusively Pietta. Traditions imports only pietta as well, but all of theirs utilize a transfer bar safety system. I don't like it, but I'm more of a purist. My best advice is to get one locally if you can and look it over real good before you buy it. Make sure that the action is smooth, that the ejector rod moves smoothly, that the cylinder locks up tight when cocked, etc. If you have to order one online, make sure you go over it thoroughly before you proceed with accepting it and filling out the paperwork. You can send them back if they aren't satisfactory, but it has to be done before the transfer. I know that is a lot of information to throw out at you at one time, but I hope I made sense, and I hope it helps.

Basically a kit in a box, if you are capable of slicking them up, lightening the hammer spring, often the hand is too long effecting timing. They are slapped together at the factory and it's not uncommon to find metal chips inside. Cimarron will try to tell you that they are superior...they are not and my experience with their warranty was not good.
@dtnetlurker2 жыл бұрын
I feel they are all a toss up as far as quality. I dislike the small voids that the metal has at times. They are very small, but they bother me. For every three you buy, maybe one will be absolutely perfect. It is what it is. Still good guns though.
