Hi Thom and Tristan In Saarland people traditionally eat potato salad with sausages. We eat smoked Wild salmon and trou salads in Christmans Eve. Then cheese with grapes. One the 1.st Christmas Day,Red cabage but potato dumplings.😁 Then we'll See each other again in january. Hello Tom, another interesting video. My family makes sweet potatoes with butter, brown sugar, and marshmallows on top in the oven to go with our ham or turkey for Christmas dinner. Sweet potatoes, our way to cook potatoes usually with bacon fat or butter is added a little pepper or spice . Sugar is contained in the baked beans we eat as a side dish usually at breakfast with eggs. Your recipe sure looks appetizing. I will have to try to cook something like this. My dad always captured the bacon grease to pour into the potatoes and greens. Then we'd splash them with a bit of vinegar and onions. Fry and Yum. We didn't use as much sugar as you did. Red cabbage was always on the table for wealth and black eyes peas for luck. We also are our red cabbage cold.

Well Tom I fixed that meal last nite. I did the potatoes just like you did and the cabbage and sliced up some pork roast and seasoned and fried it and made some pork gravy . I'm not bragging but it was spectacular. Everything came out perfect. I don't have much experience cooking but wow it was good and I ate so much I had to go lay down and take a nap then I was ready for some good strong coffee .
