yeah, people act like GOAT is some braindead oldschool yugioh, but theres a reason its still insanely popular its entirely different game of yugioh than we had prior or after it, and it is also one of the rare formats where it being solved is actually an asset and part of the fun rather than killer you dont have combos, but you have reads, play aounds, time to stall and not worry about getting OTKd, indirectly guessing the hand with NOC... its actually much complex than people give it credit sometimes that being said, I still think its a bit overrated LOL

@@Houshamamas I think that the problem with how seereax played is just that he was too conservative and didn't follow through with a single plan. Like ruxin idea made sense if they wanted to try to kill them with battle dmg (very possible with them leaving weenies out in atk and being around 4k life), and instead stalling them for deck out could have been a great idea but they just didn't have the resources (defensive cards and cad destruction) to actually enact it. He just held every interaction and didn't protect the single threat they had the whole game (breaker). No hate, I probably would have done as many misplays (especially in deck building), but he really struggled.
@Halomasterchief16
@Halomasterchief16 16 күн бұрын
@@Houshamamas Yes they already had BLS and Team Gage did have a better deck imo, but if they didn't already have every valuable card they needed, letting them draw more is basically ensuring they will get to those cards. Given how conservative Gage's team was playing, they would have waited to drop the BLS until they had the game anyway, so snatch was never getting that value Seereax wanted (as we saw with stealing Sorc being irrelevant because Gage had ring to respond). Whether or not stopping the advantage engine would have won the game, letting your opponent rack up infinite card advantage is the wrong play and basically guaranteed the loss. Not even trying to stop it is crazy imo

To be fair he did have some really nice ideas for the plays in Farfa’s game that could’ve given him more of an edge. Tsukuyomi would’ve been tributed for Parshath which either nets them an extra card or gets outed and BLS can hit the board which would’ve turned that into a whole other game. The fact he didn’t Breaker the Mirror Force was odd because at that point there’s no reason not to. @@dex1157 That's not right. You can change the battle position of a monster you Snatch, as long as it wasn't summoned that turn. I'm pretty sure they put Sorc in defense because it could still remove a token that way, and there isn't anything Seereax would be playing that can get over a defense mode Sorc but not an attack mode Sorc. So they don't lose anything by putting it in defense. But if Seereax drops a BLS, it saves them from losing another 700 LP, which they really couldn't afford. I'm not really sure how the Snatch factors into that though.
@ShyGuyChozen
@ShyGuyChozen 15 күн бұрын
So the idea of Seereax having Snatch Steal in hand was a crazy play I can't lie. Basically, if they play Chaos Sorc in defense, they still get to get rid of a token, and it hard baits Snatch Steal, which was the only problem potentially in Seereax hand. The last thing Gage's team wanted to do was to commit to BLS, for it to get Snatch Steal'd in the process. It would have turned the duel on it's axis even though they had backrow to get rid of it due to it being a 1 of. Black Luster Soldier was both decks' actual win condition despite the beat down capabilities with Breaker the Magical Warrior or Dokoichi. So the idea was to bait Seerex with a powerful enough monster that it would force them to take it and waste the snatch steal before the real threat appeared, hence Chao Sorc. Given what it's effect is if they use it, it can't attack, which was a big brained alternate play. With snatch steal, you can still change the battle position as long as it wasn't summoned that turn so they could have attacked, but they feared their backrow too much and had no real backups viable.

@Endershock1678
@Endershock1678 17 күн бұрын
The analogy I always use when talking about GOAT is think of every interaction you have as a hand trap and multiple turns as a one turn. You can't just be a blind caveman firing your Raigeki and summoning BLS, or you're gonna end up like you Ash'd the Reinoheart just for them to slam down Grief. You need to think through your lines, read what's in their hand, and find the optimal time to use your interactions to stop their momentum.
@codyhanson1344
@codyhanson1344 16 күн бұрын
Exactly. In modern decks you have your starters, your extenders, and your handtraps/board breakers/floodgates. If you see a starter, typically you'll want to figure out how to resolve it then do your combos. In Goat format there really aren't any starters, just different bodies that have their different roles and stats, as well as your backrow, which effectively act the same as your board breakers/floodgates/handtraps, just with a different meta context to think about, while also having to think about the pros and cons of certain plays in the cases the opponent has Heavy Storm, NoC, Snatch, etc.
@houraisheperd9721
@houraisheperd9721 8 күн бұрын
I described it like competitive Pokemon. In every turn, you have at most nine options (the four moves on your current mon, and up to five available mons to switch to), and so you need to think everything through to avoid losing resources. If you just interact based off what's the best thing to do in every turn, you're going to lose because you lacked the foresight to plan around your opponent's moves. You need to think about what your opponent's doing as well as your own future moves, lest you sac something that will win you the game 20 turns from now.

Honestly think the strat for the shadow game is to actually keep your life points relatively high, modulate the 100s total by attacking into the big defense point monster, then dump all your life points at once with Wall (and solemn as well if you can). Since you can dump as many thousand as you want with wall, there's not actually an incentive to be low at any other point in the duel, and keeping yourself high until you're ready to win just means you stay safe from their burn stuff. Honestly maybe even have a burn card ready for when you want to win so you can keep them at a few hundred and finish them off whenever you want without even worrying about battle

@aiou_61 He doesn't look down on the format though. He was looking down on this particular style, where he isn't playing against another duelist, he just has the controls but it's his team versus their team. How the format should have been was both duelists get to play a normal game with normal time and their teammates are quiet so the players can actually focus. And then if they want to run an idea or a play by their team, only with the player's permission can the council weigh in. Everyone's commenting on Gage and MBT running through all the plays and possibilities but Seereax literally does the same thing in his Goat format videos. It just doesn't take him early as long because he's not running all of his plays by a committee. That's what really killed the mood this time, is no one person was playing any of these games, it was an entire team playing and that is not how this is designed to be. As for their decks, I agree that Seereax's deck was outdated into terms of the most recent theory and so on, but literally so was Farfa and Probably Ruxin's. They all designed their decks by committee too. It just so happens that MBT and Gage have played "official" goat format mroe recently than the other team so they had a leg up on strategy.

And do we have something for the worse and the best outcomes? ) which Is definitely more goat format then the adapt and overcome attitude which is more in tune with playground ygo I agree tho the games should have been individual duels without the other discussing the play with maybe a time out in between to discuss steategies or something lol ( no offense to paul but tht was gage and mbt playing rather then Paul playing ) Time wise cimoo gave 900 seconds for them to discuss plays and they were meant to use that time to discuss the plays tht they should have made, team gage using what was given to them is not an advantage, team farfa not using it is a disadvantage (not sure if it's true but apparently goat format doendt have a time limit lol)

@@EIFuerteThey literally would have looped Graceful the same amount of times. The 3rd time they popped Graceful was not necessary at all, they had full control of the game. They were just doing it to wrap things up. No matter what MoF was gonna loop Graceful 2 times because Seereax literally didn't have any cards to prevent this. It was 100% just a matter of luck favoring Gage.

I love how you can see the polar opposite of today's dynamic between them in Dzeef's Master Saga series. Here they are in sync working with each other like best friends and brothers who look up to and respect each other. Meanwhile in Master Saga they act like two monkeys with knives yelling and insulting each other. It just shows how good they are at adapting for the shows they currently are participating in to keep them entertaining.

@@uteriel282 i agree to that. In retrospective his decision making makes no sense at all. What are you waiting for not removing MOF? Whats your strategy like fr? Was his plan to let the opponent draw into better cards to snatch those? lmao. hearing them talk about deck outs after graceful resolved 3 times for full value pretty much showed that the entire team was already defeated in skill level alone. They clearly did not understand their situation in that duel nor the the entire gamestate and what that means in a duel of GOAT. *Addition* It is okay to be unaware about a format you dont know, however then you should maybe not play with other peoples progression in a video format if you are in the drivers seat. Its okay to be unexperienced in a YGO Format or a card game in general.

While one was humble and recognized that his teammates knew more than him and was willing to listen to their advice while mot pushing his ideas through. This episode was a complete and utter dismantling of Farfa's team was honestly super interesting to watch. You can see every single point where things went wrong. MBT explaining modern goat developments juxtaposed to Farfa's team falling into every single pitfall people who don't know about modern goat fall into according to MBT. MBT and Gage being on similar wavelengths mentally while Paul patiently listens to what they have to say, contrasted by Farfa's team all having different playstyles and conflicting attitudes. The way MBT and Gage are able to correctly call out almost everything they're doing on the opposing team and plan their plays perfectly, thinking so far ahead. It's honestly such a testament to how cool and surprisingly complex older formats can be.
