Wasn't Thunderbird out at this point? It is really funny with Apex, as "Once per chain" becomes "once every chain". Mistvalley Ninjas with that combo is one of my favourite decks of all time. (I think I played it post Divine Wind hit though). Also ran a super transform in the side i think, and Upstart Golden Ninja in addition to the Hanzos.

It should be noted that the 5 material effect is for exactly 5 materials and not 5 or more like the other effects. Which means if you manage to get 6 or more materials through the effect of hydra then the basiltrice gets every effect except the destruction immunity. I'm certain somebody has found that out the hard way. Good mill packages like lightsworn and rekindling can often make a 5 mat basiltrice if you're running enough of: hydra, cerbereus, hyppogrif and laval lancelord. Assuming your opponent is a training dummy that doesn't do anything.

They're still somewhat playable. Best way to play them is all monsters, you can run True King Agnimazud and even a BA engine to help get them on the field.

Thinking of Dark Simorgh, have we had Dark Simorgh control in this series yet? Dark Simorgh plus Anti-spell fragrance and some kind of Vanity is hilarious since it means your opponent's only options are pretty much normal summon a monster that somehow can somehow out your monsters, veiler, or die since they can't even set monsters 😂 Edit: Checking back on the episodes, I know Dark World Dark Simorgh happened, but it's not quite the same since it didn't have the same ability to lock your opponent 🤔

I'm surprised Masked Ninja Ebisu was not used instead of Goe Goe the Gallant Ninja. Maybe the attack is the reason, but if there are other ninjas around, Ebisu can bounce spells/traps which has more utility. Oh well. Love the games and love the content.

Upstart Golden Ninja is MUCH better than Goe Goe, but this was actually pretty close to the standard list. Cimo played awful, so that's why Planter seemed like a bad card. It's usually quite good
