Munge: You are 100% dead on correct. Reds are only capable of picking up 2nd rate players in free agency and trades. In fact, the India trade was awful. A trade in 2025 that will cost the Reds 5 to 8 additional LOSSES compared to 2024.

@LeeBailey-z4v No, they can't, not if they want to compete. In 2019, they were 2 hours away from starting Geno Suarez at catcher because of injuries. In 2022 they went through 7 catchers. You can't go into the season with some minor leaguer as your back up in case TySteve goes down. You got to have someone that can stand in and have some production that is great with the pitching staff and good defensively. Has to be able to hit a little too.

You think it's bad now all the big market teams are just going to spend more and more. Probably the next 4 years will be the last chance for reds to sign any decent free agents.

We will end up re-signing Nick Martini and we will continue swooning over our potential... Worse still is Fairchild will still be on the MLB Roster. I would have rather seen them take a chance and claim Baddoo who has in the past shown tremendous potential with the bat than continue rolling with guys that literally just can not hit.

Reds always lollygag and miss opportunities. They never pull the trigger, and that separates them from the rest and the best. And that's why we will never go back to the World Series. I mean, if you want it go after it, that's what I have always taught and a lot of these other teams are doing that, and it's not costing them a whole bunch, but it's always like, well...the other teams always wanting a ton back from the Reds. I don't know why people are disappointed or surprised. The Reds are not spending $100M-$150M+ on payroll. And the top coveted players aren't taking discounts. The best we can do is catch ex-stars on the decline who are hoping to rehab their careers in a hitter's park. The rest is going to be developing talent.

Ownership and son are a joke, they have done nothing. Let's make a trade and bring ina starting pitcher. They have 2 pitchers in minors who more than likely are ready to go, bring them up and make it a 6 man rotation. The owners are dumpster diving looking for reclamation projects. They can't outdid other teams to get a Santander or Hernandez or anyone else. The biggest acquisition they made was hiring a manager. Lol. That's why you hear the reds were mentioned on a lot of players and that's all, cuz they don't want to spend money. They can up the payroll another mill, the owners can afford it, but choose not to. Luis Robert is the best defensive CF in the game. An All Star, gold glover, and a silver slugger. His speed and power are also tailored to GABP. He hit the farthest ball ever in the stat cast era in his rookie season (2020). And also hit 38 home runs just one year ago. No question with his power alone the Reds would benefit greatly by adding Robert in to their lineup.
