Injury prone Robert for blister prone Lodolo…makes sense, actually.

I hope the reds finally take a chance and get Robert. If we lose an injury plagued pitcher for him that's a plus either way

Yea I have lost almost all faith in Lodolo. If he figures it out at some point somewhere else, good for him. Personally, I'm ready to win this season.

I think as Reds fans, we over "amp" our own guys. Lodolo's back of the baseball card isn't that special. Over 4.5 ERA, and never healthy. We think he has tremendous upside, he may. It's a risky move, but I think Robert's could do well in Cincy with Francona.
@benfullenkamp575011 күн бұрын
Trading Lodolo as the centerpiece for Robert would be an absolute home run of a trade for the Reds. Lodolo breaks down pretty much every time he gets over 100 IP, and we have options if Lodolo is not part of the rotation. Yes, Robert has his own injury issues, but so does Lodolo. With Robert in CF, we can shift Friedl and his average arm to LF and all of a sudden our weak defensive OF is a plus. Get a platoon partner for Fraley in RF and we're good to go. Even without Lodolo we can run out on opening day: Hunter Greene Nick Martinez Rhett Lowder Brady Singer Andrew Abbott With Petty in AAA, Burns likely in AA, Phillips as depth in AAA, Acuna as depth in AAA, and don't sleep on Ryan Cardona in AA if we need a body. I saw him pitch in Dayton last year and his fastball/changeup combo will play at the big league level, and his slider is a solid average pitch as well. Cardona to me seems like right handed Andrew Abbott, but more durable.

Every year we have high hopes the Reds will make a huge splash and pick up players we actually need . Every year we come away disappointed. . Small market team , Large market team . The only way you put butts in the seats is win period . Well that’s not going to happen with any manager with an ownership group like this one .

I would 100% rather trade Lodolo than Burns, Lowder, or Petty.
@TheSteelers419011 күн бұрын
@benfullenkamp5750 I'd trade Petty in a heartbeat. If Burns wasn't the 2nd pick in the draft I'd be open to him too. I would have been okay moving a MLB pitcher to acquire another Pitcher. At some point it has to be about making the best MLB team you can make.

Same old reds. Trade for and hope it pans out. Spend some money on a proven outfield power bat. All we ever talk about is how much players cost and what low level deals we can find. Small market team and things will never change. All we can hope for is we get lucky and catch lightning in a bottle for a year or two then back in the basement we go for 5-7 years
@brandonlee-x7p11 күн бұрын
True statement my friend.
@keithsowder430811 күн бұрын
I agree with you on Luis Robert. He wasn't healthy last season AND it's amazing the effect that hitting in a shitty lineup can have on your stats. Guys are gonna pitch you differently depending on the guy hitting behind you and depending if there's guys on base and if the guy on base is a stolen base threat. All those things determine how many fastballs you see and if you see anything in the strike zone. It's really hard to be THAT guy...when you are the ONLY guy.

Why is everyone so anxious about the winter meetings? It’s a long offseason and most teams use the meetings to lay groundwork for a trade later in the winter.
@davidbrown01311 күн бұрын
After hearing the trade package for Robert, do not question a single move that Krall makes this offseason. If that’s what it takes to acquire Robert, let’s allow another big market team to make that mistake. They can buy their way out of it, the Reds cannot.
@carltonvanhoy399911 күн бұрын
I honestly think that you combine Krall's wins in past trades, plus our farm and people ask more when dealing with Cincy. Krall seems willing to trade, but not willing to regress on the farm for meh returns.

Steven is just wrong here. Luis Robert has silly talent and would make this team exponentially better. Lodolo has not made us better. Lodolo has proven to be as injury prone as anyone. Luis Robert has played in 245 games over the last two seasons. Lodolo has had a 5.11 ERA over the last 140 innings spanning two years and he's been injured all three seasons he's played.

We have played it safe and kept these prospects for like every year for 10 years, we traded trammell for Bauer and Trammell was terrible, we didn’t want to give up Senzel for Realmuto, and we see where that went. Prospects rarely hit their full potential, Elly McClain and the group we had 2 years ago hardly ever happens, and odds are only a few of Stewart Collier Lowder Burns Petty Duno Arroyo Stafura Jorge etc are going to be good in the big leagues. If you get Luis Robert off the worst team in MLB history and have Tito as his manager you will get that MVP level player, and to get we have to give something. Im tired of watching bad baseball and hoarding these prospects instead of going to get proven guys. In no world are we better off w Taylor Ward than Robert, and having Steer Friedl and Fraley is not better than Steer Robert Friedl. We’ve got to go for it at some point, and this may be the most affordable Star and best fit we are gonna find in these next few years until the inevitable Elly trade happens after Sotos contract ended up being what it was. We’ve been talking about the future for 10 years, and we have gotten nowhere. There are only 4 spots on the infield, and McClain CES and Elly all occupy one of them, without even mentioning Marte. We built this prospect capital to help the team, which could mean a trade. It’s time to go do something.

@benfullenkamp575011 күн бұрын
Because he's 20 years old with a career batting average below .250 and has never taken an at bat above A ball. Collier is likely a 1B long term as well, I can't imagine anyone who has seen him play live thinking the OF would be a good idea. If it comes together hitting, Collier could be an MVP candidate.....at 1B. Hinds can't hit breaking pitches. As soon as MLB pitchers realized that, he struck out 50% of the time and barely touched the ball. He should be in AAA until he learns how to hit something besides a fastball.
@keithsowder430811 күн бұрын
Ya know, maybe the Reds already have that big OF bat....why is NO ONE talking about Reece Hinds ? The guy was unreal for about a month then regressed ( I know...shades of Aristedes Aquino ) but I really feel like he's ready...all you need to do is give him enough ABs.
