I'm sure there is a reason not to, but have you ever considered using the Moonlight or O3 as stressed members in a smaller build (like a 40-45mm prop)? I work in the motorcycle industry, and that's a very common practice these days (using the motor, not a VTX obviously lol) to reduce weight and increase stiffness. And with the popularity of things like the FlyLens, GoFilm, Pavo, etc., if it was possible, it could make that class of quad much more agile. I have an image in my head that (at least to my inexperienced eye) seems like it could work with the right tweaks. Been playing around with CAD models, but my skills are very rudimentary at best lol Love all the work you put into the details on your builds and testing! You're a huge asset to the community, and I thank you, sir!

It's a really cool idea, but would that limit people to only using the O3 air unit? I think it's really important to support all the different components people like to use.

Awesome! Even though the OG 2.5 flew amazing running RcNPower 1207 5000kv motors(I know it’s a strange size, but it has hella power and still fairly lightweight), the prop guards were waaay too weak, breaking on my very first light crash. It actually just clipped something during a RTH landing from about 12ft into 3in of grass😞. Now I have something to swap the guts into 👍

Will these frame support DJI O4 Camera?
@chrisbee5481Күн бұрын
Chris has a good relationship to iflight. Last time the o3 came out, he knew the camera mount size already. Iflight is owned be DJI.
@MananpieКүн бұрын
@@chrisbee5481 There is no proof that "DJI own Iflight" DJI do have a subsidiary called iflight technology but the iflight we know in FPV is iFlight Innovation Technology

If at all possible there will be an O4 upgrade path for all V5 frames.

Stonks, I've been waiting v5 cines frames for months :D I was expecting them to feature X-cell, but looks like the structure did all the job and there was no use for it lol. I hope we'll be able to mount O4 cameras soon after their release :) Congrats for your hard work!
@ChrisRosserКүн бұрын
The learnings from X-Cell absolutely went into these frames. In effect the whole top plate is an X-Cell contrstuction now.

4:20 I calculated the disc load ratio (square of prop size divided by frame weight) of every frame and got some strange results the 20, 25 and 35 have similar performance of 10 the 30 is over performing 12 and the 40 is under performing with 8 Any reason for these differences ? Blindly I would conclude the 30 'should' have +0.5 mm plate thickness and the 40 should have -0.5 mm plate thickness.
@equipeecureuil6690Күн бұрын
Disc load ratio isn't meant to be computed for frames alone. Try and find generic component weights for each of those build, then only recompute disc loading. edit: with all the components weight including battery and regular or naked GoPros according to the quad size

@equipeecureuil6690Күн бұрын
Not without modification. The O4 has apparently 16mm spacing between the 2 screens. I don't even think there is a single frame on the market that can take one today (except if you use 2 screws out of 4)
