The look Tom Hanks hits Denzel with after causing him to reveal his pain is fire. He knows Denzel only did it to win the case and not to shame him. Two great actors working.

I saw a post on FB recently asking if there was ever a movie that "made you cry". As soon as I read it I thought of the day I saw this movie at the theater and practically everybody weeping trying to hold back their tears so others wouldn't notice but it was too late. Myself included btw. Watching this scene today, that's 30 yrs later, I had to hold back cause I got the same sensation I got back then, a lump on my throat. Great acting and a great profound movie. 👏👏👏

Yes, I remember seeing a Movie on NBC called an Early Frost with Gena Rowlands (RIP) who died recently who had Alzheimer's. Michael The Main Character, had AIDS and his family didn't know he was Gay. His own sister wouldn't go to The Hospital. Then there was Longtime Companion and sadly the original version of The Boys In The Band had several cast members who died of AIDS.

I never took it that way. All but one of them looks down or covers their eyes. The one who didn’t is the one who regrets what they did. And the main one mentions biblical reasons for his conduct. I always took it as a kind of disgust and judgment, this is the biggest indicator of why they didn’t like him, and the only one willing to look was the one who had any sympathy and regret.
@cajayson83019 ай бұрын
@@AWESOMENISH that's a very valid interpretation as well. It's tragic how they utilized bigotry, homophobia and discrininatory stereotypies about AIDS to hate on a perfectly capable legal eagle. I've worked with many lawyers myself and luckily not one in my view mistreated Andy Beckett with the level of contempt these insecure, egotistical, cowardly attorneys did. If anything, that behavior would yield terminations, especially as the legal field relies upon team work. Clearly, they had an excellent professional in Andy if they extended him opportunities which only go towards the most gifted of robust legal thinkers. They permitted antiquated social conservatism to impede upon sound judgment for clients & overarching law firm operations. Philadelphia is such a trailblazing film. I never hesitate to give it a watch. It's actually my favorite legal movie.
