They way Jonathan demme and his dop/cinematographer filmed and edited edited this scene was very clever. Washington is really adressing the audience plus the onscreen jury. Powerful stuff

Plus the other actors like mary steenburgen. The ending credits of beckett dying plus his home movies with city of brotherly love by niell young were like punch in the gut. I know the boss is the boss. Streets of phildeplhia was a very commercial choice. By the movie studio to tie in to the movie release
