I believe this could be a performance done on a show similar to "Top of the Pops", where bands would mime their songs in front of an audience. On some occasions, the vocal track was stripped and the singer would be the only one performing it live. If you notice what Cy does at the bridge, it seems to make sense. The music, however, sounds exactly like the recording. I've always loved the tone JWO got out of his guitar, which I believe is a rodded up strat copy (forgot the brand).

And Jamie West-Oram definitely does not suck on guitars. He's the other cool New Wave guitarist from the 80s, besides U2's The Edge, that played shattering icicles guitar. And the original bassist, Charlie Barrett, was great too, though he bailed after Shuttered Room, sadly. The guy that replaced him? With the beard? Dan K. Brown? A bit less interesting, to me, although he stayed with The Fixx a bit longer, ultimately. Alfie Agius was also good on bass, but he too left shortly after joining the band. He did the Shuttered Room tour, recorded 4 songs on the album Reach the Beach, including the hits *Saved By Zero* and *One Thing Leads to Another.*

I agree 100%. These guys songs were all awesome, especially "One way or another." I had a chance to see them in concert back in 1983 in Oakland, Ca - they opened for The Police, and when they (The Fixx) played "Red Skies" everyone started throwing up crushed soda cups as frisbees, lighting lighters and "Going Crazy" (the lead singer shouted this out after the song) - for me, it was, and still is, the most euphoric experience I have ever had in a concert!

I was there in HS when MTV was invented and so on. Not the same MTV as today of course, it was sort of GOOD back then 30 years ago.

the main difference is that back then it had music-themed programming almost exclusively. Once it discovered 'reality tv' (i.e. "The Real World"), that was the beginning of the end for musical programming on that channel. They had to invent a new channel - VH1 - to bring the viewers musical programming.

When MTV was a Wild wild west of all kinds of styles of music from past to present at the time.Thats why before the covid situation my daughter and I would go to various venues in New Orleans that you would check out on you tube and these bands like Drab Majesty goth 80s styles with those classic sounds or Soft Moon you meet these guys and made me feel like the early MTV days and you tell them that and these guys Just light Up!Jcsx

Kick ass song to this day! True music with only voice & instruments. Can't beat it or remake it..

Before 1982, there was no music being made like this (sound and lyrical consciousness). The Fixx may have been given to us to warn that the Fixx is in, and it sure looks like it now in the 2020s!

It always cool to go back an revisit some of these great songs from the 80s. When I try and watch things like the Grammy's for me it is unwatchable after just a few minutes. I miss the bands, the songs and CONCERTS most of all.... All hail to the 80s! Hail!

From 78-82 was stationed at Hahn AB Germany. We would regularly don our NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) suits, put on our gas masks, and practice getting our jets up before Ivan's nukes smelted us into a glowing, glassy slag pile. Fortunately, the Federal Republic of Germany was a great place to be assigned. Took the edge off a lot of scary possibilities. Almost 40 yrs later, the 2:00 pm Thursday tornado siren test still creeps the bepeepers, outta me. Same siren that back in the day meant here comes the Big Boom. But, what's truly weird, whether it's Red Skies at Night or 99 Luftballons, or any other of their ilk, I crank them up and badly sing along, loudly.
