finally someone reviewed these lenses and made the footage look good. So many reviewers have a better looking talking head than the test footage.

Guys, what do you think of the new SIRUI 50mm and 75mm carbon fiber anamorphic lenses?

They look pretty good. If our Z9s could shoot open gate, I would have ordered a full set of Z mounts by now. But Nikon is going to go ahead and be Nikon.

Excellent video. Thx a lot. Any chance to give feedback on the close focus sharpness of the lenses? And a comparison with nanomoprhs would be great!

Amazing footage! It would be emmensly helpful if you label the broll shots! QUESTION: Lens used for time marker: 1:46 (Two women in the square)? Thank you! Great stuff.

Part of me is leaning the 75mm. Because the horizontal field of view resembles that of a 50mm spherical (which is the equivalent). I’d also love conformation on this, because lens choices pay dividends.

@CineD The Saturn series is identical to the Venus series, isn't it? They only distinguish in that the Saturn series is made of carbon fiber and you can choose between blue or neutral flares. Is it also possible to use the Saturn series with the 1.25x adapter?
@mabitzz9484

It’s different in flaring aswell - you can finally choose neutral flares or blue flares which is great aswell as a constant squeeze of 1.6 … the Saturn have 1.5-1.6

The Venus and Saturn are totally different beasts. They are NOT the same lenses. I recently shot a 5 state 21 day trip with the Venus set, and adore the footage, especially the night time city and rural landscape imagery. The distortion, flares, etc are different and I like the image a bit better on the Venus set, but boy oh boy would my aching back have appreciated if I had brought the Saturns instead.

Is it a constant 1.6x squeeze factor for all lenses - or do they change slightly with focus?
@markr041
@markr041 4 ай бұрын
The 35mm for sure does not change squeeze factor by focus distance. It's a big deal.

Hello. Which lens did you like better: 75mm or 50mm? Which one would you recommend?
@CineD
@CineD 10 ай бұрын
As Francesco mentioned in his review, he prefers working with the 75mm for taking portraits. The 50mm is more "allrounder", so it depends on your filming needs. Thank you!

Is there any benefit to buy those lenses instead older Sirui anamorphic with f1.8 on Fuji x mount?

Seriously, the mounts should be user swappable. I'd buy the 3 lens kit in an instant if they would be. I have tried contacting them before regarding this, asking more info, but they never responded to my emails....not best customer service...

Nothing unsuaul, they want to implement anamorphic to mirorless. My only complaint is the one he mentioned - no anamorphic settings in camera, mainly desqueezing the video. I don't use PCs anymore and edit 100% on my mobile phone just for social media so having the must to use PC again means no anamorphic lenses anytime soon ;D

We don't buy any cine lenses in formats other than PL and EF, or without changable mounts. Cine lenses last decades, camera bodies change with the seasons. @@CineD

Heavy grain and grading on lens review, so we get absolutely no idea about color rendition or actual sharpness, otherwise than some chart shots. What a useless piece of review.

@@CineD Yeah, I have to agree here... When it's a lens review, I think most of us would like to see how clean a lens is. I was disappointed to see the footage, but also by the snarky response here. Just my 2 cents.

for myself : i don't want anamorphic lenses because there is no ( or so few) sensors for that. Anamorphic is design for better negative surface use. That the only specific use for thats. Today : peoples use anamorphic for very bad reasons. For myself it just a hype. With a square sensor, it would be totally useful. But...no more negative, no more square sensors.

@@teddaamen for flares. For non-round bokeh. Technically, anamophic is totally out of date since sensors are for the most in 16/9 or 17/9 aspect-ratio. Buid an anamorphic lense, in 70", for shot on a square or quasi-square sensor, was totally logical. Today, anamorphic is just a hype.

@@beyondourarena2207 In a way it can be a hype, but in another way, it can be a very interesting visual narrative tool in my opinion, it depends on do you have a strong reason to choose it. First of all, I totally agree with you that as for now, a lot of manufacture and video shooters are just play a 'cool effect' and make money out of it. But I am somewhat thinking about the format and optic character(flares) of the anamorphic lens. If I am going to shoot with anamorphic, I would like to have a reason to show the sense of video in a bit unreal and 'filmic ( as what the public would say)' look, possibly 2.4:1 format ratio. In filmmaking perspective, those characters do add up in narratives. That being said, the newly made modern anamorphic lens may not work that well in those catalog, but somehow the trail of retro and following the hype, is also the spirit of nowadays, maybe something will be classic in the future. I may personally stay away of them now as there are so many vintage lenses that's fun and full of characters if I want to find some interesting looks.
