This video is simply AMAZING. You hit a special niche, you somehow made a perfect video for “indie documentaries” lol, I feel like every video you find on KZbin about documentaries is focused on features or short documentaries in the professional world, but it was perfect because you directed it at individuals who understand documentaries but aren’t trying to do “professional documentaries” and don't have either the budget or the project to require such large crews or gear.

Another great feature of the pocket series for documentary work is having proper timecode. Pairing a pocket with a Tentacle Sync Track E lets me record audio even when I'm not rolling on the camera, and I never miss a sound byte. Syncing it all in post is super easy!

Instantly subscribed after seeing this video. You explain it so well and I love the authenticity & real-life applicability as I'm currently also looking to build a rig most likely with the BMPCC 6K Pro. Looking forward to more of your videos. A few things I noticed/was wondering: 02:02 - The footage quality here looks low. How come? 07:51 - You mentioned that there's a way to crop further with the 15MM, to 24MM and then even to 40. But I didn't quite catch that part that you can crop it till 40, how? With what sensor? 10:16 - in this scene it actually looks like you're able to use this piece of gear as a small slider, do you ever? Also, have you ever put this rig on a gimbal? Last question, it seems that there's a little glitch or dustspot on your sensor which I can see on the middle of the screen/your face, have you noticed?
@CineDailies2 жыл бұрын
My guy! Thanks for watching and giving feedback! As for the 2:02 - yeah that's strange, it looks like a YT problem. It's playing about low quality for me too. 7:51 - the 2.8k applies a heavy crop - I believe almost 1.7 on top of the 1.6 crop. so its a rough estimate. I will be putting this setup on a gimbal so stay tuned for that! that was the sun flare haha from that angle

I really like most of this rig - creative ideas and all - but firstly that main lens choice nimbles me! Of course it's up to taste but I really did not like the low contrast look of the zeiss wide angle. The image of the sigma 18-35 looked way better IMO. The second problem to me is that it seems you tried to beat physics here. During the walking shots I can see serious micro jitters and I think a gh5 coupled with a vari ND would look much better at this point. So all this money is not worth it if there is jitters in the end. I would train some weight lifting and make your rig heavier or get an easy rig :D Or get a b cam for walking shots with IS.

Please be clear when talking about 15mm lens on BMPCC 6K = 24mm which is comparing to a full frame camera sensor. Most all of the films produced in Hollywood have been shot on S35 sensors so when you read that a 24mm lens is used on an Arri… it’s still equivalent to 24mm. That means when you use a 24mm on a BMPCC 6K, it’s still equivalent to a 24mm. No conversion. Don’t do conversions to still/full frame sensors as that is not correct.
@CineDailies2 жыл бұрын
Where did I miss spoke?
@CineDailies2 жыл бұрын
I corrected myself in the video. So...
@963films2 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thank you! I wanted to make sure that those who are starting out who might be confused with crop factor (which is talked about on other videos) doesn’t confuse them when it comes to selecting a lens size and often they will look at what directors have used such as a 21 mm or 24 mm and then think that they need to apply a crop factor to get the equivalent which is not the case on super35 sensors for motion cameras. …now the BMPCC 4K is a different story ;)
