To address the comments concerning the inclusion of Black Panther in the video and on the thumbnail, I want to shed some light on how we produce these videos in part to assure you that our intention was certainly not to be opportunistic or exploitive. Movie Lists are planned well in advance of their release. This particular video was written nearly a month ago and the edit had been in progress for a while as well. The video was not conceived as a reaction to Chadwick Boseman’s death, but, as we feel Black Panther is a worthy and important inclusion on this list, a leader as good as any portrayed on film, the Black Panther section needed to acknowledge his passing over the weekend. In the past we have paid homage to actors we admire and characters who are important to so many, and will continue to do so in keeping with the spirit of our channel, which is a celebration of those parts of cinema that have been most meaningful to us. However, we hear you about his inclusion on the thumbnail, and that it might be in poor taste, so we’re changing the cover image. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

@@oldDNU Judges will also try to block nullification, and that's undeniably an intentional feature of the jury trial. As for jurors bringing in new evidence-while tainted evidence of guilt needs to be ignored to disincentivize police from gathering evidence in violation of our rights, I don't see anything morally wrong with jurors bringing in evidence that helps the defendant. Sometimes it's easy to forget that the legal system was designed to be biased in favor of acquitting the guilty over convicting the innocent.

I would've liked to see a spot focused on a "flawed leader." Most portrayals of leadership in film aren't relevant to real life because real people don't always do the right thing. Someone like Aragorn who can resist the temptation of the ring Isn't likely to exist in real life. Obviously that's fine because that's film and it would be boring if everything was hyper realistic. I just thought that would have made for an interesting spot.

Kind of disappointed the lack of "bad" leaders in the list. Many times the villain is the counterpart of the established, both for a fictitious world and for the real one. That's why I think characters like Palpatine, the Joker, Thanos, Jordan Belfort, Travis Bickle, Michael Corleone, Bonny and Clyde, and others should have been mentioned or included in the video.
@jasonblalock44294 жыл бұрын
I agree with the sentiment, but some of those aren't even leaders. I mean, Travis Bickle? His whole thing is that he's an emotionally stunted angry loner who can't connect to other people. OTOH, you could make a strong argument for Tyler Durden for his ability to insidiously radicalize people without them even realizing, or Hans Gruber for having genuinely excellent people-management skills alongside equally excellent strategizing.

Captain America was a guardian of the people while Black Panther was a leader of the people, which I think is the greatest distinction in leadership between the two. While Steve Rogers would leave behind more idle leadership roles in the active pursuit of what is "right", T'Challa became a world leader, sharing the massive scientific and social advancements that Wakanda had to offer. Steve would lead heroes to battle, but he wouldn't be the one to put the world back together. Both are great leaders in their own right, but only one is a true MCU world leader.

It really feels like the Black Panther spot was for the obvious reason rather than the right one. I love BP in Civil War but ngl he's kind of a crap leader in his own film since his best friend even turns on him and there are just so many better picks for this spot as the comments and likes are showing. We aren't just spouting hate. It just feels like you put him in for views since he's even on the thumbnail and it would've been nicer and more organic if you maybe just had a little speech about him at the start or end of the video. Again, big fan of this channel just feel a bit disappointed (not that you need to care what I think of course) about how this video was handled.

While some of these pics are agreeable, I think choosing real leaders, like martin luther king (or putting them in honorable mentions for other), is wrong. I get that a lot of other characters are inspired by other works (like aragon from a book), but they still don't cross the line of real human. Regarding Black Panther, I haven't watched the film so I cannot express the opinion, but it seems (bt the narration) that it was influenced by recent events regarding the actor, not the character

Seen a few comments about the inclusion of real life leaders along with fictional characters. The purpose of the video was to highlight movies that portray the many different facets of good leadership, and we certainly talked about whether or not to include biopics with fictional characters. For the structure and theme of the piece, we decided it made sense to include all the portrayals of leaders in our consideration. Re: the inclusion of Black Panther, there's a pinned comment at the top addressing that.

@@CineFix ok I see your point and respect it. It is just a little bit weird for me: MLK, Mandela ecc were all great leaders, but I wouldn't associate them in cinema. For me is just a bit strange the jump from fictional to real blokes that lived few decades ago. Maybe is beacuse they are of our times; with some historical characters or even anciet ones, that are thoundands of years old (moses in the ten comandments for example) I would have had the same feeling, but less strong. Anyway, great list as usual, I missed those.

Give Black Panther a watch. I agree with the pick, he is a great leader.

Marco Vecchi that’s fair. Though despite being a superhero film, it has a purpose and message beyond spectacle (which is why people are willing to forgive the rather poor CG of the climactic scenes). I can tell you there’s a scene that takes place in South Korea that has strong Bond vibes if that’s your thing.

Black Panther actually made ZERO sense as a leader. His introduction was all about being isolationist and putting the safety and future of his country first. Then in the conclusion he sacrifices all of his citizens and destroys his entire country all to protect vision. One fucking dude that isnt even a human. He destroys wakanda for that? IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE if you watch the original movie. its like.. it s like.. it was written by two entirely different people. with different ideas of the character. and ZERO CONSISTENCY

Where is President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho ? The greatest leader ever known to man !!! It takes a special kind of talent to become a leader of men when everybody is smarter than you.
@oldDNU4 жыл бұрын
You Andme you know, Camacho’s greatest attribute was recognizing when he couldn’t solve a problem, so he found someone smarter than him to help. That takes a lot of humility.
