So the list is actually Top Twelve, with the trilogy's installments either tying for first or each film is considered better than its predecessor. Naturally, for Hobbit, they should have followed a precedent from Lucasfilm. Wait until around now to start making it, but first rerelease the LotR trilogy with new special effects. The Middle Earth makers could then distinguish themselves by doing it again. Twenty years from now, rerelease the Hobbit with new special effects, then adapt a prequel trilogy to it out of Silmarillion.

The composition of this list made me very happy, as did seeing some of my favorites earn honorable mentions. The way you presented Fantasy Epic was wonderful and hilarious and I loved it.

So glad you included Celine and Julie on the list! Too many of my friends, even film fans, look at me blankly when I tell them about it. The three-hour length is somewhat daunting, but it flies by even though the film didn’t have the budget or SFX of hits like LoTR.

LOVED the list guys, really thank you. I’m proud I saw half the list, and happy I have lots of “new” movies to watch now, but you forgot to mention Krull, Legend, Conan’s brother and sister “Kull the Conqueror” and “Red Sonja”, and, come on... “James and the Giant Peach”. Those Deserved mentions. Also, I wonder if Naked Lunch, Zardoz and Heavy Metal couldn’t be considered here too.

I'll add the caveat that Lord of the Rings was intended by Tolkien to be one story. He wrote it all as one book, but due to the cost of paper at the time, he had to split it into three parts. So you could technically call the Lord of the Rings "Trilogy" one movie split into three parts, just like the books are actually one novel split into three parts. At least, that's how Tolkien intended it.

LotR is simply perfect. The locations, the cast, the music, the art, the detail in costumes and weapons, the dedication. I doubt we'd see the trilogy in the same way if they hadn't all been shot back-to-back, or if the cast hadn't been so dedicated to the source material (things like Sir Ian McKellen reminding Sean Astin to grab Frodo's hand when he wakes up in Rivendell because that's what Tolkien described in the book). If they had done Gollum any differently, if they had changed it from the books any more, if it had different composers or directors for each film, it wouldn't be the amazing thing it is today. What REALLY bums me out about LotR and how much it's loved is how it just disappeared. Harry Potter's been over for a full decade now, but I still see HP themed shit everywhere. You don't see any LotR themed stuff anymore.
@bhardnavares59032 жыл бұрын
Yeah and it's kinda infuriating. The Harry Potter series are good and even me find it really good too but they are still no match to the grandeur of the LOTR films.
