actually that William Marston quote was about men, he said if men can submit to a loving authority like women are expected to the world would be in a better place.

Doctor Gradamit Ah, I thought that sounded fishy. Marston is like the last person I'd imagine as being un-feminist, so it seems a bit slanderous to spin that point that way.

Actually dr. Marston said Wonder Woman’ was conceived by Dr. Marston to set up a standard among children and young people of strong, free, courageous womanhood; and to combat the idea that women are inferior to men, and to inspire girls to self-confidence and achievement in athletics, occupations and professions monopolized by men.”

A small fact you probably did not know is that in the early 1980s a Japanese animated film called Project A-ko had a high school girl that had vast Superhuman strength and speed and also had bracelets. These bracelets reduced her powers. At the end of the film you see her parents are Wonder Woman and Superman. I wonder if the DC New 52 writers were fans of Anime?

Themiskyra is actually in northern Turkey. Not an island, on a coastal region known as the Pontus. Bonus thing you didn't know (Briefly nodded to in the movie. The factory he flees is in Turkey, which makes the overnight trip to London even more magical, when you realize it was from the Black Sea, or at the closest, Bosphorus. Clear across Europe from the island of Britain.)

#5: This sort of came up before the New 52 - in some stories it's implied that Wonder Woman goes berserk if she takes off her bracelets and very rarely she'd take them off to fight without restraint if she thought the situation needed it (although she'd then need someone else's help to get them back on and become sane again).

Cinefix (probably) didn't know that Linda Harrison played the REFLECTION of Wonder Woman in the pilot while ACTUAL Wonder Woman was played by Ellie Wood Walker. Cinefix also (probably) didn't know that television worked differently back in the 1970s and three seasons was actually quite good going for the version that starred Lynda Carter. The video appears to be attempting to portray a false narrative where this series was a flop (possibly to big up the new big screen version by smalling down the old small screen version - never a good tactic) . Not so. Not only did it achieve three seasons, it was also sold to other countries around the world, and ran in syndication for years after its original run. In an age before VCRs, reruns were how people saw television programmes they missed first time round, and the only way they could see a programme they enjoyed for a second time. It should be remembered that Star Trek (the original series) also ran for three seasons, as did the 'Batman' TV show with Adam West and Burt Ward. Does anyone ever imply that those shows somehow failed? Of course not. The reason the versions starring Ellie Wood Walker, Cathy Lee Crosby, and Adrianne Palicki didn't make it to series was because they strayed too far from the source material. The first one mocked the character, the second one changed the entire appearance of the character, right down to her hair colour, and the third one largely kept her appearance but threw away most of her back story in favour of something the showrunners thought was better (they were wrong, of course). Back in 2009 Warner Brothers produced a straight to DVD animated film, which though largely faithful to the source material, and well executed had one scene that left a bad taste in the mouths of some viewers, where Diana and Steve walk into enemy territory and calmly twist the necks of enemy soldiers they encounter, killing them, all while carrying on a light hearted conversation, like they were a couple of serial killers from a Quentin Tarantino film. I hope such a scene will not be included in the new cinema film.

I "love" how they just downplay the iconic TV series because it was canceled. That show wasn't canceled because of ratings, but rather because of the Superhero purge initiated by then CBS president, Harvey Shepard. As he didn't want the network to labeled as the "Superhero Channel".

You guys should do some actual research on Marston and not just go based on what is on Wikipedia. Marston believed women should be in charge and the world would become a better place. Because it doesn't make sense if he believed women should be submissive, then create such a feminist badass icon. You guys failed this one.

You should look at the film "brassed off". It's a British film made in 1996 about the closure of coal mines. It has one of the best ending sequences i have seen in a while, including the end credits. It really keeps the end theme alive while portraying a powerful message. It would be important to research the backstory, without context it is relatively meaningless. Although it's highly specific nature it is even a good film today.

It's not really debated if Superman is weaker than Wonder Woman by fans because it's pretty hard to dispute. Superman's main weaknesses include a sensitivity toward magic. Wonder Woman's powers come from her godhood and are considered magical in nature. So over half the shit she can do he has no resistance toward.

On all the commentaries I've read and seen about the backdrop of this movie, no one yet has mentioned writer/artist George Perez who did the comic reboot in the 80s, redubbed Paradise Island Themyscira, and is basically as responsible for the Diana Prince that we know today as Charles Moulton Marston was. Another unmentioned fact is that the original, mythological Amazons only had one breast each. They cut off the other so it wouldn't get in their way when they shot arrows. Which suggests they must have been uniformly endowed with large hooters to have been a problem with their archery. I suppose that a cadre of single-mastectomied Amazons was considered too unappealing for the modern audience.

The bondage quote when applied to concepts like the empowerment of women sounds like this oppressive thing (and admittedly, targetting it solely at women is likely the reason), but as a general catch all for the fetish of bondage, it is a good point to make about trying out being a sub.

The original Wonder Woman comic book character was owned by M. C. Gaines and published by his All-American Comics, Inc. company from 1941 to 1945... in 1945 he sold her, The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, and others to his partners at DC comics and got $500,000 (free and clear after taxes) to start his EC comics company!! 😉

First of all, the Wonder Woman movie was simply... um... WONDERful. And not just as a superhero movie. Despite not really having Wonder Woman's physical attributes from the comics (and let's be honest, how many women do? Women in comic books must spend a fortune on bras that have to be specially tailored due to the fact that almost all of them are seemingly like 40 DD or bigger), Gal Gadot totally rocked that role. Secondly, bonus thing you didn't know: After Marston's death, neither his wife nor their mistress ever remarried/married. In fact, the two women lived together for the rest of their lives.
