This tutorial looks amazing... definitely going to check it out later. Any ideas on how to achieve this effect with live action footage, or must the be 3D models?
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
You could do this with TRACKED live action footage for sure. Track the persons moves, apply the motion to a model and do it that way. Doing just straight footage would be some heavy compositing work!
@pablovfx87996 жыл бұрын
Red Giant Trapcode Form (AE plugin) would be suitable for creating this effect with live footage I guess. ;)
@gregorzimmermann25147 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that awesome tutorial, EJ! Do you happen to know if it's possible to render all the sketch materials in a different channel? Such as using a Compositing tag that is applied to each material? Thanks again! Gregor
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
If you mean the outlines, then no. The reason is because it's a post effect and is rendered on top of everything else, so it's not in a material channel, it's a render effect.
@gregorzimmermann25147 жыл бұрын
That’s what I thought. So if I’d need separate layers, I’d have to render multiple times with different elements visible, right? Thank you EJ!
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
if you render out the "Post Effects" pass, the sketch and toon lines will be in that pass!

Damn, you are the Man!! Thanks for tutorial on S&T! How did you animate the texture, so it looks like sketch and toon curves are going along the model during camera movement?
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
So because it's World XYZ space, if you move the object it will actually move through the lines. If you set the Contour view to View X/Y/Z, it will change based on the camera move. Give it a go!

For newbies your tutorials are pretty far from learning but it is enjoy watching anyway. When i watch your videos, you have already done with the most essential parts of the project like adding materials for each objects, tags and the other stuff.But if i do not know what should i add the objects before apply the methods you're telling this is just a garbage for me. I do not mean that you should make tutorials about "how to modelling an space craft in c4d" but at least you can tell us what is happening before you start the tutorial. You may make a very simple tutorial from scratch covering the Sketch and Toon. BTW its not especially for this tutorial, my comment is for all of your tutorials. But again you are the best!
@eyedesyn6 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment! Most of my tutorials cover a specific aspect and so don't get into modeling or texturing if it's not required for the technique. For this tutorial, for example, there's no Sketch & Toon materials added at all from scratch and I show you how to create the proper materials for this type of look that I laid out in the title and description of the tutorial. So it's a double edged sword, if I cover more than is in the title, people will be mad that I didn't "get to the point" and if I don't cover everything, I get comments like this one, haha! For example, what is this tutorial missing that you would like to see? The scene starts with only untextured models, so you are asking for how to populate a scene with models?
@andach91796 жыл бұрын
@@eyedesynNo i as i said in my comment i dont ask you to model everything or add something to scene. I watched almost all of your videos and looked up the comments, there are several comments as like mine. I watched all the series of your sketch and toon series and they are absolutely perfect. Mine is just asking a favor and when i look from side of a newbie to c4d, it looks like "oh whats happening there, what he did and what is the materials he ve already added to the objects or compositing tags?" . Again this is just my opinion , if you can make a basic tutorial from scratch and telling whats happening there you can attract attention of the people who just started to learn c4d and want to learn your tips, if you want to attract that kind of people . Long story short; make a tutorial that is for beginners :)))) Thanks for kind answer :))

@crvickers21886 жыл бұрын
@@eyedesyn nah man you're good. there's plenty of beginner tutorials out there, this just can't be bothered to pause it when you mention something they haven't seen and go and look at a beginner's tutorial. your stuff is very, very good and actually ends up with an aesthetic that you could actually use in the commercial world. keep up the good work.
