This movie has aged really well since 06. It is a clean, simple uncluttered origin of bond for the post 9/11 and Jason Bourne era. I still remember when he enters the frame wearing the Brioni dinner jacket. Lots of happy laughs and Appreciation in the cinema. By the time he started the parkour chase it was really a case of Pierce who?
@StalloneAman2 жыл бұрын
For the Pierce who? perspective, Bond has been originally written as an optimum balance of humour and action in just the right amounts. Connery and Moore eras started with the plot and humour being more than action towards Craig being majorly action with small quirky bits of James Bond, if not for the name and music one wouldn’t know they were watching James Bond, rather than some generic American action superhero skilled in parkour and close combat fights (Millions of such movies in Hollywood). Brosnan is the sweet spot between the two eras, 50-50 humour and action with some of the best action scenes while keeping the soul of Bond as a secret agent and not soldier alive. The newer generations who can’t sit through a quiet meaningful conversation wanting an explosion every two seconds will never understand that, it’s a generation thing.

C: Your comment about "quiet meaningful conversation" has nothing to do with the rest of your paragraph. Seriously reread it, you go from talking about humor and having balance to...something that has nothing to do with either of these things.

I've never seen Eva Green look so radiant than in this scene, she was absolutely stunning. Whenever you get women with more severe features like this, it takes a subtle hand to do the makeup in order to "soften" the look. This flawless, natural look did the trick, with interest.

@@billybro1403 I've been a professional photographer for 50-years. There's a REASON they hired Eva to star in projects like "Dark Shadows" and "Penny Dreadful," and trust me, it wasn't because of her sweet looks. Looking for an "aquiline and chiseled" face?? Choose Keira Knightly. But you're confusing Green with actors like Jennifer Lawrence, or Ann Hathaway, or Scarlett Johansson, and if you still don't understand the concept, you can also add Christina Ricci to this list. But for SEVERE looks and parts, Eva Green heads the list, without any question or doubt.

When I saw this in theaters, I could hear the women around me make an 'audible gasp'. How interesting. Not a shirtless scene with a man showing off his chiseled abs.... BUT a simple scene in front of a mirror with an incredibly tailored black suit. The sheer 'class' of this scene makes one's heart skip a beat. :D. (edit) the color grading here, though pretty, does diminish the 'sheen' in the black fabric of his jacket (I just noticed that). It was the sheen and how the light reflected off the black fabric which signaled to the audience the high quality of the jacket. :D

Vesper gets my vote for #1 Bond Girl. Besides the layers of character to enjoy and dissect, deliciously portrayed by Ms. Green, one can look at her Vesper in this scene, when she has NO makeup on…and gorgeous just glows thru. I loved how the script had her start off frosty with Mr. Bond, then warm to him, and yet only to take us all for shocking ride in the end. Right character development, with a professional handling the part, gets my vote. Tough to beat.

Indiana Jones 4 (2008), at least in its originally released form, is physically painful on the eyes. All the lights are blinding and metallic. Everybody's face looks like it is made out of old shoe leather. Casino Royale is not quite as bad, but the whole look of it pegs it immediately to that era.
