I saw this film in theaters as a kid, and even then, I 100% could feel that sensation it was playing up to me. The product placement, Will Smith just being himself, that line about having the PS2 hookup in the room, it actually made me laugh because I just felt in the back of my head "Oh yeah, you are so hip with me." The thing that intrigued me most as a kid was how the promoter character actually stuck around in the film longer than I expected, and I even remember finding him funnier than I thought, and that was way before I knew who Martin Scorsese was and adds a more surreal layer for me as an adult. Also this is a clear showcase as to why making the underwater world mirror our own in such a way is beyond distracting compared to the effort Finding Nemo did before in just having it feel socially similar and that's all.

Also sin the fact that the piranhas are in the middle of the ocean, even though they are in a freshwater tank. How is that even possible? Piranhas could not survive saltwater, and it's very unlikely that Don Lino (the godfather shark) would be able to enter the Amazon River to collect these piranhas due to great white sharks being exclusively saltwater fish. That is one of, if not the most confusing thing about this movie in my opinion. Despite this, I actually enjoyed this movie. ;)

I loved this movie as a kid, and I'm surprised you didn't mention Lenny's vegetarian lifestyle being an allegory for being gay. It's also probably where I got most of my film references from, and cemented my love of the big and small screens. Edit: I'm a trans gay man, and I think some of y'all need to keep the opinions on queer people to yourself - I don't think everything is 'about gays' - I just pointed out the subtext my father had explained to me, and how it affected me. My family and I moved to Canada when I was 7, and this was not only the first movie I ever saw in theatres in Canada, but also the first movie I ever saw in English. We were friends with another family who had also emigrated from the same country as us. The son (who was about the same age as me) was having a birthday party and we went to see this movie. His mom was sitting beside me in the movie theatre. At the time I didn’t understand English very well. So every two minutes, I would turn to the mom and ask her “What did he/she say?” or “What’s going on?” This poor woman ended up having to translate/explain the entire movie for me. 50% of this video is just complaining about inconsistencies with this movie's underwater setting and I love it.

No species of shark is known to be " warm blooded"( correctly called endothermy) which signifies an animal that maintains a ( relatively) constant internal temperature. Great whites, and some other related sharks do not maintain a constant( or near constant) intenral temperature. What they do do is maintain an internal temperature an approximately constant level above the ambient temperature( which has been called poikilothermy by some).

You know what's sad? This is actually the best of Jeremy's videos that I have ever seen, and he had a number of valid points. He also didn't make that awful college girlfriend joke in this video.

I like the negotiation aswell. To quote the best Suzzane Colin’s character “Everyone will think they were treated unfairly. But everyone will be happy that everyone else feels the same way. It’s the basis of compromise”

This movie frustrates me because I genuinely love Lenny as a character. He's so sweet and I just want to hug him but the rest of the movie is dull to me.
