In Hawaiian mythology, Maui actually kills an eel and buries it, then a coconut tree grows from it. Sin off for animation being accurate with it
@heartoflinnea21314 жыл бұрын
That line reminded me of this old book I had as a kid, in which an eel meets a human girl and they fall in love. Despite the rest of the village trying to prevent them from meeting, they keep meeting. The girl grows older (she was like 8 in the beginning) and is still in love with the eel. Eventually the rest of the village realises that the only thing to do is kill the eel and when the girl goes to save it, the eel tells her to let them kill it, that she should bury it's head and it'll turn into a coconut tree Similar story no? (How the characters look and wears would in my mind also place it in the Hawaii area) But do remember that this is a KIDS BOOK... That is a bit messed up...

As someone from New Zealand I have heard a lot of these legends before. I would have taken 1 sin off for the hair budget in this movie. Maui's hair, and especially Moana's, were given their own budget and R&D with the CGI department to make it look as realistic as possible. Anybody who has ever done work with 3D animation knows just how difficult it is to pull that off, you need top-of-the-line machines and processors to get particles and primitives to behave and animate in that way. I believe Brave and Rapunzel had to use similar software to make the hair happen for those characters as well.

@deadersurvival47163 жыл бұрын
@Swag Monke You do realize that's an entire bit on the channel that's so prevalent that he literally calls himself an asshole repeatedly throughout everything in this channel... Also, how many people going to disney movies are going to do research on mythologies contained... IN A DISNEY MOVIE? Keep in mind that majority of people that have access to disney movies either aren't Polynesian enough to know the mythology or pedantic enough to check if a children's movie publisher known for coming up with bullshit mythologies actually use real mythos for the first time in company history? THIS IS DISNEY! The only people that watch this garbage are 12 years or under girls, their parents, and young adult women that haven't found the "serial killer documentary" channel on their cable yet. Once again, THIS. IS. DISNEY.
@deadersurvival47163 жыл бұрын
His job is to be FUNNY. Not to educate 12 year olds about mythos that they won't ever care about. He's great at his job, because his job is to be a nitpicky asshole who points out mistakes in logic or background setting that you wouldn't notice without looking for them... i.e. HIS JOB IS TO BE FUNNY. CinemaSins is a COMEDY CHANNEL. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You realize that not everyone will watch things that they're the target audience for, right? Especially since Disney is a CHILDREN's movie producer. Parents aren't in the market that Disney aims for, and yet parents watch it. Also, it's a well-known movie, he's going to get requests for things. As an asex, if I did a similar idea for "adult films", that doesn't mean I'm into them. It means that people request certain ones, and I get ad revenue for what gets requested. Basic business 101, go where the demand is. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm sorry, do you really think that Disney has a diverse target market for children's movies? Spoiler alert, they don't. It's either children or children's parents. If you're not under the age of 12 with estrogen in your body, and you're not a parent to someone that fits that description... YOU"RE NOT DISNEY'S TARGET MARKET!
@deadersurvival47163 жыл бұрын
@Swag Monke and you know that Marvel is known for its blatant manipulation (and consequent destruction) of ancient mythos. Also, Marvel may be owned by Disney, but that doesn't make them the same thing. Also also, Marvel is worthless to this discussion, because we're talking about Moana, and similar movies that have been written by the Disney team... The Disney team that makes Disney princesses for little girls that wanna grow up to be princesses... Now... NEXT. Edit: Also also also hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
@deadersurvival47163 жыл бұрын
@Swag Monke ...I never said that was the only group that watched this. In fact, if you actually worked on your literacy, you might realize that I admitted that A) he likely did it because of requests, B) parents have to watch the same movies as their little runts, and C) young adult women will also watch this garbage prior to them making a discovery of what cable channel they can go to for serial killer documentaries. Furthermore, if you worked on your reading comprehension, you'd realize that I said that Disney's TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC is 12 year old girls who wanna grow up to be princesses. As far as this video's viewing audience, you don't have to like, or care about, the movie in order to like the video... because it's a comedy video, about someone's nitpicking a children's movie by a company that's well known for their thinking route of "we like surprises more than consistency".

In terms of why the Crab was fooled (I can't think of his name right away), I think it's that the Kakamura detected the prescence of the heart rather than knew it's exact down to the second location. So the crab could be fooled by the algee since, for all he knew, that WAS the heart. Moana had the heart on her, so the algee would presumably be thought to be the Heart

Of course it also have a backstory to it. Maui actually lost his fishhook while he was using it for fishing but instead, he accidentally created an island. He told his brothers to pull up but dont to look back until one of his brothers disobeyed which led the rope breaks and flying up to the sky which then created a constellation. There's probably many stories of how Maui's fishhook become a constellation but to me this is the only version of the story that I'm very familiar with.
