Just picked up a GH5 last year (a little late to the game I know) and for the life of me, none of the recommended settings (from other youtubers) looked good or worked well on my old PC. But these settings not only look great but they work perfectly with my old PC (no stuttering or lag). Thank you for posting!

Just received my GH5 this morning. Charging the batteries and then I am going to re-watch this video and set up my camera. Mr. Harris... you are a life saver and saved me several hours (maybe even days) figuring out what settings look the best. Your style is fantastic and I'll definitely stay up to date on your channel. Unfortunately since I spent a pretty penny on the camera and cage, I can't afford any good LUTS, but I've been seeing some good free ones out there and will experiment with those.

I found a possible reason. If you shoot 24fps you have 100mb/s for 24frames. If you shoot 60fps you have only 150mb/s so basically more information per frame => better quality. Right?

@@ryanjharris Honestly most cameras like the Alex's and Red's are not good in low light and don't have autofocus. These "limitations" just make you better filmmaker and challenges you with focus pulling and manual focus as well as lighting to compensate for low light. I'm thinking of switching from the a6500 to the gh5 and just getting a viltrox EF-M2 speed booster for my Sigma 18-35mm f1.8. The atomos ninja 5 can enable 10bit 422 proress as well so its kinda futureproof

@Jetsudo5 жыл бұрын
'cinema' frame rate is 24 fps. NTSC is for the television frequency in the U.S (the bandwith of video in radio frequency uses 59.94 hz and pal, 50hz). If you're shooting cinema footage, you're goal is for the 'cinema'. In saying that, if you're shooting for digital video/television setting/and or slow motion, you're not going for the filmic/traditional, cinematic look. But, you can convert these other settings for TV/video(youtube etc) into cinematic settings, in post. (24fps/25hz). Does that make sense? o.0

What do you mean it doubles the frame rate? If you're shooting 60fps you should shoot 90°. I suppose if you have it with the VFR it should be 180°. But what do you mean it doubles the frame rate?
@ryanjharris5 жыл бұрын
When the Shutter is set at 180 degrees it means that the Shutter will always be double the frame rate. So if I am in 24fps it will be around 50 shutter speed and if I switch to 60fps it will be 120 shutter speed. That way I never have to think about it Cheers
@Alex_Smit5 жыл бұрын
@@ryanjharris Yeah sorry man. You've got it completely wrong. It doesn't work like that. You have to obviously manual set it 120° and even if you do shoot in 60fps your meant to shoot at 90° the those degrees represent a shutter angle that is normally used on cinema cameras with rolling shutters not global shutters like in DSLR's. All Panasonic is doing is making it easier to understand for people coming from cinema cameras.
@ryanjharris5 жыл бұрын
Hey Alex- Thanks for the input. Personally I always keep my shutter at 180 Degrees. For further reading check out this article - www.polarprofilters.com/blogs/polarpro/how-shutter-speed-affects-video "The 180-degree rule is a standard in the film industry, and it explains the relationship between shutter speed and frame rate when recording motion in video. To mimic motion the same way the human eye experiences it in real life, the 180-degree rule states that shutter speed should be set to double your frame rate. When you hear people talk about “cinematic shutter speeds” they are referring to this standard where shutter speed is set at double frame rate, or as close as is possible. (Most DSLR’s have the option to shoot at 1/50th but not 1/48th, so if shooting 24 fps, set shutter speed to 1/50th) " Cheers!
