The fiasco started when the invading force split into 3 columns! Obviously no one in the British army had heard of the axiom, " united we stand, divided we fall" especially when the British hadn't a clue of how many warriors faced them, and their deployment!

Grow a pair. Just don't be offended when you don't see diverse black people in ancient and medieval Europe. If this was about the Roman invasion of Scotland, the amount of black picts and Romans in a modern day dei production would be utterly ridiculous and insulting. Just so you know, I don't need to see white Zulus to make me feel better.

Bartle-Frere and Chelmsford acted unilaterally. The orders from London were NOT to cross the river into Zululand. Chelmsford was clueless as a military commander, particularly fighting a nation where everyone had to be a warrior. They were both later censured for their actions, but wars are easier to start than to stop and contact with England was at ship pace.

People don’t understand that the Impi was the standard operating procedure for most of Africa. The men fought, the women looked after the households, and the children looked after the livestock. As the men were only warriors their numbers were less than those of the women so they had two or more wives. This went on for many hundreds of years creating a race of men who were fearless ,doughty warriors,as we see in the number of successful Black Boxers. The downside is that they are genetically keyed to be more aggressive and to treat women as chattels, something we in the West refuse to accept despite the evidence which is overwhelming.

Why use metric distances? The British didn't during the 19th century.

The Zulus were the true heroes, charging the British modern army with just spears and shields. It was a total massacre but they kept on charging. They have earned my respect and my salutes.
