This movie feels like right-wing "pro-family" propaganda, romanticizing toxic familial relationships so people don't break off relationships with toxic family members, and telling them to get married and start popping out babies because "you'll change your mind one day." Bleah. First off, toxic relationships need to end, blood-related or no. If they didn't want to get cut out, they shouldn't have been toxic. Second, you're far more likely to regret having kids young than the opposite. And I can tell you from experience, being forced to interact with kids does NOT make you want to have kids more. You want a real "pro-family" message, watch the Fast & Furious movies. Dumb, sure, but they still understand that a healthy family isn't based on blood relations.

If $160 million was double the production budget, that means this movie, which is mostly just about people doing Christmas things in houses and driving around, cost $80 million to make! What did they spend all that on? Actors' salaries? A shoot that took way longer than expected? Cocaine? The budget of several other movies rolled into it via the magic of Hollywood accounting? I thought 2001's Town & Country was the undisputed king of ridiculously over-expensive romcoms, but apparently not. People bemoan the near total death of cinematic romcoms (though the genre persists on streaming), but I'm generally glad we no longer get these massively budgeted attempts at wacky-but-prestigious romantic movies with huge casts of big name actors.

Just a small error, Brad and Kate live in San Francisco. The Golden gate Bridge goes north to Marin County. Why are they crossing the Golden Gate Bridge when you can drive down the 101 Bayshore Freeway from San Francisco the Airport and never cross any bridge. Also, SFO is in San Mateo county south of San Francisco and inland on the west side of the bay. It gets fog but not like that.

Sean, your poster gag is hilarious. It reminded me of a scene from Brain Donors, wherein Flakfizer slips a risqué photo in-between the pages of a will that his rival, Lazlo, is reading

That movie is paying homage to the Marx Brothers, and that happened in one of their films. I believe it was Horse Feathers. Groucho is "teaching" a class, and he has a picture of human anatomy, when Harpo sneaks behind him and puts up a picture of a woman. Groucho remarks, "Now on closer examination...this NEEDS closer examination. In fact, it needs a nightgown. Take this picture down right now, and put it up in my office."

Jon Favreau as a MMA Fighter was not so much a stretch for me since his brief stint in Friends where he trained to be a UFC Fighter, did get beat badly but still, he could be seen as one.

Might want to keep the hammer and Giveashitometer for your next reviews - especially since they happen to be second looks of shit you've already covered. Believe me, with what your show covers, you REALLY need to take your pleasures where you find 'em. Wishing you a Happier and Healthier New Year, Smeghead!

Job Favreau played Monica's boyfriend briefly on Friends, where he was a tech millionaire who, in one episode, announced he wanted to be a UFC fighter. He was not good at it and Monica ended the relationship because she couldn't bear watching him getting the snot beat out of him.

@@erichfiedler1481 Talentwise, Paul W.S. Anderson, and, Michael Bay, are equal, the only differences are that the latter, had better luck maritally, and, at the box office, (though, it seems that audiences have finally wised up).
