not gonna lie, it made me tear up a bit cause amazing parents will always believe in their kids, even if the kid may have experienced many failures. the main reason i tear up was cause of one time i wanted to go to colleges with prestige, cause i felt i could make my parents proud that way, then i told them this and they told me something i would never forget: “we will always be proud of you, we might not always say it out loud, but no matter what you do as long as its something you enjoy, you can fail, in this case not get accepted, as long as you know you did the best you could, and it doesn’t hurt anyone else, we will always be proud” sorry for the essay but just had to say why this scene means so much too me 😂

I want to praise Lexi Rabe in that ending funeral scene. I lost my dad suddenly when I was six. And the sorrow, confusion and fear that a small child goes through when she's lost a parent is perfectly portrayed on her face. Even the way she hangs onto her mother for dear life. I wouldn't even let my mom go the bathroom alone for a while after that because I was afraid she'd go away too. So her performance was perfect in that scene.

Lots of comments accusing me of forgetting Strange's hands shake because of the car accident even though that was a huge plot point in the movie. I guess I worded it STRANGELY but Wong implies that he can stop the shaking through magic and he (seemingly) does so at times from then till now. But if he's focused on other magic, his hands wouldn't be a priority. That's all I was saying..

My question is: at that moment of self-sacrifice, would tony have been worthy of Mjolnir?
@perrycarters3113
@perrycarters3113 5 жыл бұрын
@@dereksantiago3870 More appropriate question: Would Mjolnir have been worthy of Tony? In all seriousness, the answer is still likely 'no' because Mjolnir isn't just about willingness to sacrifice. Tony is still a very deeply flawed human being who would compromise on a lot of things if he thought it was for the greater good, whereas Thor and Cap are 110% only ever going to do what they consider the right thing without a second's hesitation. Tony, upon realising he could save everyone, didn't immediately call Cap or Banner or Nat or anyone. He put his daughter to bed and then talked it over with his wife; There was a part of Tony that was too desperate to hold on to his own personal happiness to commit to the idea. Once Pepper basically told him he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't try, even he was unwilling to compromise Morgan to undo the Snap. Had Tony been presented with that binary choice of "Bring everyone back but lose Morgan or keep Morgan and everyone stays gone," I fully believe he would have chosen Morgan. But once Thanos was on the board again, the only thing in Tony's mind was "I now live in a world that contains Thanos and Morgan. This is a state of affairs that only ends with at least one of these things no longer existing. *Kill Thanos* "
@dereksantiago3870
@dereksantiago3870 5 жыл бұрын
@@perrycarters3113 I agree with the whole Morgan thing, but the whole not calling everyone when he figured out time travel, not so much. As he is usually selfish he consults Pepper and not the Av. but, with this, we know that Tony knew what was right. He knew it was right to tell them, but he was afraid for Morgan, he's a father, and a good one. I say this because the snap was immediate-ish, as in he didnt hesitate at all.

I mean, Tony wasn't wrong - he warned that time has a way of messing right back, and Thanos got brought right back into play, and they ended up seconds away from Thanos wiping out all life in the universe. Sure, they didn't know Thanos would be able to hijack the time heist, but they still ended up with a double-or-nothing situation as a result of their meddling (and that doesn't count the other timelines that were also put at risk).

The scene where Cap gets the hammer, and the portals scene are legitimately some of the best scenes in all of cinema for me. I don't care that superhero movies are seen as campy showy spectacle pieces. I get so excited every time. Everytime Cap gets the hammer its just like "yes!" even tho i know it's coming. The "On your left" from Sam as the first portal opens literally makes my heart skip every time i watch this movie. I tear up as Sylvestri's score swells with each new portal and collection of heroes. And finally capping it all off with the first "Avengers Assemble" It is just the most exciting thing I have ever had the pleasure of watching and I will watch it again and again.

So in the whole "it's not Cinema" thing; in college I wrote a very long paper about "low" and "high" art (in the context of the paper it was about novels). The basic idea was that high art is really for a smaller group of people and that in turn can make it way less relatable. Low art is the art of the people, art that the "everyday" person can enjoy. It can impact them. It can shape them. It can move them. That in turn makes it a way better and "higher" art form. Art is our freaking oldest tradition behind verbal storytelling. To do art and to experience art is to be human. When more people can take part of that the better humanity is.

I'm not sure I like that reasoning, because it sort of swings too hard the other way -- implying that "high art", because it's more niche and less pop, is thereby a 'less worthy' type of art than the "low art". There's no such thing as a "better" or "worse" art. Highbrow art and entertainment has its proper value and place, just as Lowbrow art. Neither one is better or worse than the other; they're complimentary to each other, not opposite. (Also, saying that "high art" can ONLY ever be enjoyed by a small group of people is a - sadly - common fallacy. *Everyone* can enjoy even the highest of highbrow stuff; just because it's a little less easily-digestible and takes a little more time to get acclimated to than the "lowbrow" stuff, doesn't necessarily makes it exclusive from the general public).
@Posiman
@Posiman 3 жыл бұрын
There is no objective difference between low art and high art. "High art" is defined by elite institutions including it into high art. And only recently they decided to only appreciate niche, artsy stuff. It wasn't always like that. The ceiling of the Sistine chapel was not created for art students to write high brow essays about. Michelangelo was a professional, hired for a lot of money to produce the greatest spectacle in the world. An unrivaled epic piece of Catholic propaganda for both kings and the last commoner to breathlessly marvel at for centuries to come. The sheer scale of it makes it a lot closer to something like the MCU than for example La Grande Belazza...

I don't have time to go back to his older scenes now, but maybe that scene in particular with the finger kind of amplifies the shaking. Whether it's deliberate or not, the slowness of the moment, meant to make sure everyone sees his meaningful expression and knows what that one finger means (not *that* one finger) -- all of that certainly amplifies his hand tremors and it can mean a lot of things for the viewer. And none of that detract from the strength of that shot!

The fact that Steve Rogers was listening to It's been a long long time in his apartment in Winter Soldier when Nick Fury came in, having been shot up by Hydra agents. To then close that particularly loop with the scene with Peggy at the end of Endgame? Mind. Blown.
