Say what you will about the sequels but I'll defend this movie to my dying breath. Peter Cullen as Prime? STUNNING. The CGI mixed with practical effects is STUNNING, the score STUNNING and the SOUND DESIGN THE GOD DAMN SOUND DESIGN MUAH. I'll say it-Transformers really revitalized the action genre. For those that might have forgotten Hollywood was just DEAD in the mid 2000s thanks to the Recession (as well as other huge events) back in the day-Transformers came along and changed EVERYTHING and in the following year we had not only Iron Man but Dark Knight too? Boom boom boom we are not pirates and Hollywood would never be the same again. Also I ate the WHOLE plate. The WHOLE plate is just iconic lol.

I like the idea and the sentiment a lot but if Movie A comes out a year after Movie B, then I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume Movie A was beginning production around the same time Movie B was wrapping production. Not to mention all the CGI, compositing, rendering, editing, reshoots. Again, I like the sentiment but I don't think Transformers revitalized the action genre. At the very least it was at the forefront of the Action Renaissance.
@ribottostudio4 жыл бұрын
@@rayeittastay2458 I can accept that. I feel like Transformers was like the Little Mermaid of action movies-the start of something BIG and Iron Man and Dark Knight just kind of exploded onto the scene changing everything. And suddenly action was cool again. Fantasy had its moment after 9/11 and was still around thanks to Harry Potter but other than that it mostly died off. And then there was just nothing. Transformers coming around really helped move things along in the right direction for action-it was fun, big BOMBASTIC MR FANTASTIC it was fun, entertaining turn your brain off, make you think about life....and then in 2009 and 2010 animation even got into action a bit and took off it was so good. And my god 2014 was just....ohhhh what a time to be alive. But yes I don't think that would've happened without Transformers.

Little kid me loved every single second of the movie, man. I think I was 5 when I first watched this? Now that I'm older and more jaded, the film's plot is mediocre at the best of times, the dialog can be stilted, some of the jokes don't land or haven't aged very well, and it leans a bit hard on Megan Fox's sex appeal sometimes, especially in future films. But I'll be damned if it isn't a spectacle from start to finish. The models and animation are fantastic, everything looks so hyper-real. Everything in the movie moves like it has real weight associated to it. The sound design, as pointed out in the video, is also incredible. Do I really care about the characters? Not really. In retrospect, the only reason why prime stood out to me so much (check the username) is because he had a badass sword and an awesome voice. But again, the visual feats the movie pulls off are absolutely incredible.

Yes, that was awesome! There was one major thing I HATED about the Transformers movies though. 3 words "LACK OF CONTINUITY" the films in term of mind numbing, edge of your seat action were certainly amazing and extremely entertaining. However there is only so much missing lore I can take before I'm ready to pull my gun. Like for instance, what happened to Sam after "Dark side of the moon"? Where did Leo go after Revenge of the Fallen? Why is there NO mention of what happened of ANY of these characters? I mean, Sam.. the teenage boy who saved the world 3 fucking times alongside Optimus and the Autobots and what.. not even a SINGLE reference to him or what he did.. I'm sorry for going off on a rant about this but still..

Michael Bay isn't perfect, but he is exceptional at what he does. Heavily flawed in how he tells his stories, but an absolute beast in the visual effects department. Another win for the movie is having actual US soldiers as extras so they could read off military procedures, maneuvers and chatter authentically.

Dan of Steel I feel like most people wouldn’t have a problem with Bay if he was relegated to ONLY visual and sound effects. Third honestly what he works well in. This, 6 Underground and Armageddon are decent movies, and the fact he actually cares about using stuntman and practical effects is a testament to his skills. He’s a fantasy director who does action well. As long as he does that and not try to touch reality (Pearl Harbour, Pain and Gain and 13 Hours), he’s component.

I gotta agree, I enjoyed this movie just like the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and maybe the 5th? But regardless, I thought it was always epic and awesome with the fights scene and music and the quotes. I would usually sometime RP scene and do stupid or cringe stuff. But thats what makes me a kid. Looking back it it, I don't really care if some of the plots were bad. I think it's fine to like this Transformers movie, because it still holds up as a good stand-alone movie. It's just so memorable, from the characters, the action beats, and the music and soundtrack. Its sequels, though, are a whole other story-they've become just memes of this movie. And that's where the perceived hate comes from, I think-the sequels.

Michael Bay's first Transformers movie was the first big blockbuster movie I ever saw in theater way back in 2007 ( I was 10 back then) and still is the best movie out of the whole Bayformers franchise (with DOTM being second best). Despite the sequels being literal dumpster fire, the first one at least has the most coherent narrative out of the bunch and managed to capture that sense of awe when the Autobots show up and all the fights were done spectacularly. Not to mention the CGI still holds up extremely well for a movie from the 2000s, even looks better than most big budget movies nowadays. Still, I'm glad that Bumblebee corrected all the mistakes from the Bayformers and did justice for the Transformers franchise, but the first live action Transformers movie will always be my childhood's favorite.

This was my favourite movie as a child and some of my best memories I have come from times associated with this franchise. It was honestly so refreshing to see someone praise Bays work despite the fact that both him and these movies get dumped on so often. I really enjoyed the video and hope you get around to doing the rest of the series if you haven't already.

I can't even express how happy I was seeing this in my timeline. Transformers honestly helped me through a lot when I was a kid, and while I do cringe at the movies from time to time nowadays, the trilogy is still very dear to my heart! So, thank you for making this video

And to answer your question about Autobots with aerial vehicle modes, there are a few. In the G1 cartoon, there were Cosmos (UFO), Powerglide (Warthog attack jet), Jetfire (Blackbird).
