Honestly the relationship between Clarie and Carmy was forever changed for me when someone pointed out the relationship and more specifically Claire is meant to represent the dream life Carmy can never have. That's why all there scenes are shot like dreams and Claires dialogue and actions are so stiff and weird upon a first watch, they're meant to represent the life Carmy wants and a fantasy for him. But as we see, once Claire breaches that life and enters his reality, things get messy. First was the scene between Syd and Claire which was appropriately awkward due to the chaos of everything else going on. But then the freezer scene happens and Carmy himself acknowledges that maybe having a relationship isn't something he can handle, because like Michael, Carmy is an addict. It's just Carmy's vices are the kitchen and whenever his other life breaches that barrier things get messy and tend to leave people hurt.
@kimberleywilliams78025 ай бұрын
Also can I say that the first person he calls for to help him out of the freezer is Syd despite him bailing on her to hang out with Claire during the season, despite her being his partner. They were supposed to do it together but he was off chasing a dream he was never meant to meet. I think this new season will show her leaving the restaurant after the fall out of the opening night and honestly? He deserves it, sorry Carm.
@MaybeLily12345 ай бұрын
Also there’s a scene where Carmy is having a panic attack and he tries to think of Claire, and that just makes him worse, but when he thinks of Syd he calms down
@kimberleywilliams78025 ай бұрын
@@MaybeLily1234 Because he and Claire are not meant for each other, she's too attached to the chaos of his family, she doesn't bring him peace but she's what he thinks he wants. I hate how reviewers straight up ignore Sydney's significance in that scene and how he ties her to the love he has for his brother and the image he had of him and how he positivley connects that with the hope he got from working with Syd. I think it's a failiure to not connect the two themes.
@woutergrob85874 ай бұрын
Beautiful analysis. I love the dynamic between Claire and Carm. They both really want to be together, But Carm is too anxious. He's alreaddy seen them breaking up dozens of times before the end of their first conversation. But it's not just their relationship that's doomed to fail. I think that after all the trauma Carms been through he isn't ready to accept romantic love from anyone. He's not ready to love himself, to be proud of his achievements and to accept himself for the flawed but beautiful person he is. Carm really needs to work on himself, but that will be a long journey over the coming seasons and I can't wait to watch all of it.
@shirleyparkersk2 ай бұрын
To me it's very clear that Claire is not a full character (yet... if they want her to be on the show I think we will get her out of the box) because she represents the goal of happiness that Carmy rejects due his family history and former boss' influence and this is why in S3 he is so haunted by her, leading to the creation of distractions like changing the menu everyday. He internalized the wrong idea he cannot enjoy life and be happy if he wants to achieve greatness which is why Terry's lesson about life being more important is fundamental and hopefully it will be developed during S4 so Carmy can grow. I may be the only one that root for them because I think Sydney and Carmy would be the most unimaginative route the show could take and it would cheap the relationship and both the characters and I actually think Claire it is what he needs if the show wants him to be happy. She's someone who understands pressure (and we may argue hers even more intense due the nature of her job) and it is completely disconnected to anything related to his job which is essentially something he needs to "live life outside the kitchen". During S3 Claire lives on his head and the show displays only his POV on her and this makes her more of a concept and I wonder if she will ever become more than this.

Not sure why "fantasy" and "unrealistic" pop up so much in this video. I've worked in a number of kitchens and one of the things that stands out about The Bear is that I recognize so much reality in it. I've worked with these characters, I've been that stressed, rushed that hard and fucked up that bad, and it extends beyond the workplace - Fishes could easily have been any Christmas at my grandmother's house in Glasgow. This show is one of the *realest* kitchen dramas I've ever watched.

I’m not a chef, but as an artist, The Bear touches a lot of things that are extremely real to the life of an artist. The sacrifice, the burnout, the loneliness, the despair, the miracles, and the tiny triumphs nobody will ever understand except for another artist who has burned as hard as you.

Tina's arc is so unusual and interesting, it's her younger, carm, that passes the torch off to HER, when in media it's usually the elder that passes it on, after all those years of feeling like she's reached her ceiling she finally admitted that experience isn't the only measure of greatness, raw talent exists, and once she lost her preconceptions against Syd and Carm and started acknowledging their talent she noticed that talent recognizes talent, and in doing so started seeing what they saw in her, a gorgeous A4 cut of pure talent marinated in a delicious sauce of experience ❤️

I found myself following the rest of the characters in bullying Pete through Seasons 1 and 2, but when it came to that final confrontation between Pete and Donna that's when he became my favorite immediately. Pete and Natalie are both "fixers" in their own way, with Pete choosing to love and support others over raising himself up to control others while Natalie suffers from the same condition all the Berzatto's suffer from which is taking and managing "control" in their lives. Pete doesn't look for control to make things better, instead he pushes others and supports them to find their own control in his own special 'Petey' way.

Such a good show. I think Forks is some of the best TV I've seen in years. They did such a good job of writing Richie's character building up to that moment. It doesn't feel fake or like it was a sudden change. It really feels like he's been trying but had no clue how to be better and that the small improvements he was making he wasn't able to realize. Then it clicks and he really turns a corner. It's nice when a show has good writing.

I started watching The Bear earlier this year with my mom after it swept at the Golden Globes (and later the rest of the awards season). Forks is my fav episode, not only cause it's fantastic, but also because of how satisfying it was to see Ritchie finally find his purpose over the course of just 30 mins. Despite his lines making me laugh a lot, I usually can't stand characters like him and wasn't a fan for most of the show. Never would've imagined while watching season 1 that I'd genuinely be rooting for him to succeed so strongly by the end of season 2, and yet I'm not even mad it happened cause the his growth was done perfectly. (Side note but we simultaneously started Ted Lasso at the same time as The Bear after getting a free month of Apple TV. As luck would have it I went through a very similar arc with my feelings towards Jamie Tartt so there was a lot of deja vu lol. Hated his character like Ritchie in the first season, knew the show was gonna try and make me love him, and yet they still achieved their goal extremely well to the point that he became my fav character 😂)
